It's been about 5 days, so why not another round of....
Today's prompt is all about those furballs that make our lives better.
Pets are rarely the focus of stories on the site, but there are plenty of stories that feature our lovable companions in either major or minor roles. As such, I want your suggestions of stories that have excellent pups and cats in them (or even something a bit more exotic? Horses, even,) helping the protagonist on their journey.
Try to stick with stories that are either already complete or actively being worked on -- and the more time with the critter the better! And don't forget to provide links if you can.
As an extra this time around, feel free to share pictures of your own pets with your comments.

With such a prompt...
With such a prompt, I would be remiss in not listing the multi-book 'Light Saga' which features a rather special kitty named 'Khan' who indeed plays an important role in the story.
It all starts here: Into The Light
And shared for the first time, here's a picture of Khan himself from many many years ago. I promised the fluff-butt that he'd be in something I wrote should I ever write any books, though sadly he went across that rainbow bridge before I actually got this first one onto the page.
He was an amazing little guy and is dearly missed by all who knew him. :)
Shame(less/ful) self promo ...
Chessy dog (pronounced 'chess-ee', like the game) plays a supporting role in my https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/101208/new-years-revo...

Then, Portia Bennet has kitties woven throughout The Cynthia Chronicles. This might be 'the beginning'; I'm not sure:

Note: It seems to start slow, and a bit sad, but please "stick with it."
There are other related stories set in the same 'story-verse', but not labeled 'Cynthia.'
Scooped!
When I read Melanie’s latest challenge, I immediately thought of Erisian’s amazing cat, Khan (who is, as you might expect, dangerous when wrathful), and Alan’s wonderful dog Chessy. But they’ve beaten me to it!

Help! My girlfriend is a Unicorn!
While this story isn't about a dog or a cat, and I'm not sure if a unicorn could be really considered fluffy, I think Dorothy Colleen's story, "Help! My girlfriend is a Unicorn!" still fits in this week's theme. She's one of my favorite authors, so if you haven't read anything by her yet, give this story a try! :)
