over Sheffield last night!
Which i took to be a good omen and so it seems it was. When i eventually got to pater this afternoon he was looking better than he has in a while, the bruising from his falls has almost all gone, the procedure Tuesday evening seems to have sorted that issue and they are now working on getting him mobile again so that he can return home, we think early next week.
It wasn't all good news today, the reason i didn't get to the hospital until tea time was the small matter of winding up the archaeology group that i've been in since it started in 1993, a victim of an ageing membership and a shift in how archaeology is managed. It was sad but inevitable, helped along by covid restrictions.
Tomorrow morning i set off to ride the @ 50 miles up to York for the cycle rally, my mother attended back in the 1950's and i've been a regular attendee since 1998. That does mean that the usual Sunday posting of a Gaby chapter won't be happening, i'll try to get it up when i get back on Monday. I hope to meet up with quite a few friends over the weekend as well as spending time with my kidlings on Sunday - they'll be travelling across from Leeds for the day. What could be better than all that and sleeping in a tent too?

Rainbow View
A few years ago, I was driving to school at around 5pm, with the sun behind me and rain ahead of me. I saw a brilliant (unfortunately partial) huge rainbow way over Houston. A truck passed and splattered my car and the space in front. Consequently, the rainbow continued downward, forming an apparent double exposure with buildings next to a bridge, the bridge itself, etc. Those were far closer than the rainbow apparently was.
I imagined posing this question: did the rainbow represent God's assurance that he would never do such a thing again? Or was it a phony Exact-Words assurance, ruling out another massive flood, but with fire, plague, earthquakes, etc. still fair game? I took a third option, deciding that the interpretation of the rainbow was wrong. It was a physical phenomenon involving sunlight, reflection, and refraction of raindrops.
