Hi,
I have a female character from France who has an unusual ability, once she's met someone she can track them wherever they go. She has the French equivalent nickname Bloodhound because of that. I've looked up bloodhound and got a really rough translation, 'du sang le limier'. I'm pretty sure that's not going to be accurate.
Now I'm not stuck on the name Bloodhound, if there is something that would be more appropriate for France's culture, but mean essentially the same thing I'll happily go with that.
Would someone be kind enough to give me a hand with this?

I'm a little rusty but
It's been a while but I believe du sang (as in sanguine) is actually blood and le limier can either mean bloodhound or detective. So I believe what you have means blood the bloodhound. Hope this helps

It is called Le chien de St. Hubert in France, and in Belgium where it is said to have originated.
The French police favor the Berger Belge Malinois for tracking.
But why not Le Traqueur or La Traqueuse for a nickname?

I'm assuming one of those if for a male and one for female
La Tranqueuse is the female version, correct? I struggle with anything other than English, even then I still have to work on it to get things close to correct.

As I said I'm not 100% sold on Bloodhound. Something like Soul Hunter might work just as well. That seems to translate to chasseur d'âmes. I just don't want to do a lousy translation and insult French people, or mess up the gender for the translation.
