The following came to me as I pondered the life of a person who had been modified to control aircraft or spacecraft as in the “Skin Horse” series seen at the end of the blog section.

The sub story was titled "I Can Fly" which you can read "HERE". The note below is a cast note about "Nick".

For Your Consideration, in a time and place ...

DOD Program managers announced today a halt to the use of Biological Flight Control Computers (BFCC)s in aircraft configured for in flight refueling. The announcement came after several baffling crashes occurring either during, or immediately after an in-flight refueling attempt by aircraft with installed BFCCs.

An unnamed DOD spokesperson suggested that donors for the program had not been screened for gender preference and upon first accepting a refueling probe in flight, the computer system went into shock. The situation was not helped by unauthorized communications from the BFCCs located on the tankers. Their message , “it's so good baby”.

Started reading Skin Horse a few months ago and been following it since, hopefully nick never needs to be refueled in air, the blow to his psyche might be too much. Bravo!

I guess it helps if you understand a bit about how in flight refueling works.

For those who are scratching their heads at this, a modern tanker plane has a hydraulic boom the extends out the bottom and sockets into a fueling port, usually in the top of the fuselage. Much like like electrical sockets and such, one part (the boom) could be described as male (and given the length I'm sure some would find this due compensation for being turned into a machine) while the socket it fits would be considered female.

The system this supplanted was actually reversed. I know just enough about this stuff from what I've seen on discovery programs like "Wings" to be dangerous but as i understand many years ago (maybe as far back as WW2?) these older planes had a short boom that looked like a larger version of the pitot tube attached to forward area of the fuselage and the tanker would release a hose with what resembled a giant version of a badminton shuttlecock at the end of it. The plane that needed fuel would have to maneuver such that the fueling tube would line up with this basket. Then upon accelerating to meet it air drag would provide the mechanical force to seat the seal and allow the fuel to transfer, , on that note, were these earlier era planes fitted with a brain based flight control, the roles i guess would be reversed, and it would be the fueled panes making the comments

Naval aircraft and most fighter jets use the droge and probe

as do military helicopters that can be aerially refueled. The very phallic male fitting on a flying *boom* *penetrating* a slot-like *orifice* on a bomber/cargo plane is only used for aircraft that need large volumes of fuel like a B52 and that ilk. Most tankers can extent a drogue from the boom or even the wings, So the man’s brain in the helicopter would be refueling from the male standpoint, except the flow would be going the wrong way and ...

Ooooh THAT’s even worse. Poor helicopter brain.
