My parents are Jewelers. Dad is a wholesaler, while Mom has a Jewelry store that's been in her family for ages. That being said, we are fairly well off, and I guess Mom and Dad were feeling a bit eccentric when naming us.

Diamond and Crystal, both sophomores in college, were born in April, hence their names. I guess Dad picked out Diamonds name. I got something along the lines of, it was good enough for Lou Diamond Philips middle name, it's good enough for my son's first name, when I asked my dad about it. My sister Sapphire was born in September, hers' and Crystal's were probably the easiest to come up with, as a lot of girls are named after gemstones.

My name, on the other hand, I'm sure it was a bit tougher to choose. I was born in November, so it could be Topaz or Citrine. Yeah, I wouldn't have liked either of those myself. 'He's the Tops', it would be a good nickname for Topaz! Citrine? that almost sounds like we named him after a Citronella candle, my kid is a bug repellent. Nope, still not enthusiastic about either of them. So, what did I end up with for a name? Well, the stone is kind of amber in color, we could call him Amber.

Gee, thanks rents, may as well have called me Sue.
