No, I'm not being conceited. This heat wave has not been kind to me and since Thursday I've been feeling tired, nauseous, not thinking clearly, and just generally feeling terrible. As a result I wasn't able to post the new chapter of Cold Fey to my Patreon. I pushed through and got it posted a day and a half late but just ended up feeling worse. Well, apparently I have a mild case of heatstroke so I'm supposed to be resting, drinking lots of fluids, and doing my best to keep cool. That last one is a bit of a pain in the ass but I'm managing okay, I think.
Sadly, that means no chapter of Apocalypse Dawn this week. I will have a chapter of I Wish posted on schedule since it's already been written and the same for Cold Fey since my Patreon page is so far ahead on that. I'm hoping that if I rest, keep cool, and do everything else I've been ordered to that I will be back to writing sometime late this week or early next week.

Interesting, I hadn't realised that
someone cool could be hot.
Be well...
Take the time you need to be healthy. We will read or re-read something else in the mean time.

The Canada Heat
I did not realize that it is still hot in Canada. Portland, Or. cooled off about a week or so ago. I love hot weather but three digits is a bit much. Please get well.

heatstroke
is no joke. Take care of yourself first, the writing can wait
Yikes!
Please take care of yourself. Don't want you getting any worse!
hunny I completely understand
I feel the same way. I am in kitchener, yes, same province of canada as u. It is absolutelly horrid, like i used to groan at the americans stereotyping all canadians as always being in winter, living in igloos and walking pet penguins as if.... but I sorta wish I could live up to that stereotype now, right? Iimagine, in a municipality like toronto, alot of the head & smog there must be even worse.... I know i sure as hecklesworth, never signed up for california weather ugh I hate the heat. If u are on hrt, some of your conditions may be related, like I know since I been on I am extra sensitive to the heat, with evtreely near exact conditions as yourself. bring out the snow, icecastles, igloos & penguins..... cause it is sooooooo much better then this heat.... I heard on the news that there has been quite a few fatalities from this heatwave

Hope you do get well
Honestly I hate that the story that I look forward to has to be put on hold again. I do understand and I do want you to get well so do what you must because Heatstroke is no joke. But I go through this everyday out in my State it is like we only have Two seasons out here. Summer and not Summer as it doesn't get cold we can't call it winter and we have spring and autumn combine but when it starts or ends has always been debatable for Arizona. So again do take care of yourself.
Don't mess about with heatstroke -
Heatstroke can very quickly mess you up quite badly, keep you from taking proper and immediate care of yourself, and let you make possibly >fatal< decisions ...
Get cool and stay cool. Hang out in cool places - libraries, all-night stores, whatever.
Had a friend who was going into heat stress. I 'bailed' her and her daughter out of the outdoor event into a cool restaurant. After half an hour in the cool, she kind of of came out her brain fog, and said "I can't believe how much you two were drinking!"
Exactly. Drinking. That's why her daughter and I were OK. And why she was bight red-pink (and it wasn't sunburn ...) and had stuffings for brains ...

In retrospect, I should have gotten her to the on-site medical people for treatment, guidance and after-car instructions.

Tom Clancy had one of his fictional commanders say during a jungle operation: "If you are not peeing, you are not drinking enough."

In Chicago-land (IL, USA, my home town) in a heat wave around 1995, we lost 500 people. Around the same time, a heat wave in Europe killed some 35.000 ...
Be Aware Heatstroke
It is not something that comes and goes with the heat. If it's severe it may be with a person the rest of their lives as they lose their natural ability to deal with high temps. Amethyst described many of the symptoms.
Drink "real" lemonade, or squeeze a real lemon into a couple gallons of drinking water. Add sugar if you must but it works better if you don't. Don't know what the lemon does to the body's ability to fight heat, only that it works. One still gets hot but no heat stroke.
This was used for the men building railroads across the U.S., some of the military in the jungles in WWII, and by me and all those working for our company each summer. So much knowledge our pioneers understood our modern society forgot living in the mechanical age of AC buildings and vehicles.
Today, the Earth's axis is tilted 23.5 degrees from the plane of its orbit around the sun. But this tilt changes. During a cycle that averages about 40,000 years, the tilt of the axis varies between 22.1 and 24.5 degrees. Because this tilt changes, the seasons as we know them can become exaggerated.
This is the climate change and nothing short of God is going to stop it from completing it's wobble. The sun doesn't come up in the east and go down in the west. It comes up in the NE and goes down in the SW. True N is no longer N but shifting. The world is not a fast spinning top where it spins smoothly but a slow spinning top where it wobbles as it spins.
In their lies and deception and greed the Gov and all the news is going to blame climate change on mankind and raise more taxes and pass more laws where one must have more licensees and permits to exist.

Global warming
A slight change (1°) in the angle tilt of the earth axis won't have such dramatic effects as we see it now. And even if it does has an effect, the change would take thousands of years and just move the climate zones slightly around (after all, 1° only measures ~111 km on the surface of the earth). It wouldn't cause the rise of the global average temperature by ~1.1 °C. But this only happened in the last 70 y. In fact, the last time with such a high global average temperature was ~125000 y ago. And this rise has been confirmed independently several times.
On another sad observation: if there's trouble (global warming in this case) many people play the CYA game (Cover Your Ass) and shift the blame around until the weakest target is found who can't defend themselves against the accusations (in this case: the slight change of tilt of the earth axis). But if there are rewards to distribute for an achievement then suddenly many people come out of the "woodwork" and claim that they contributed to the achievement in one way or another. :-(
On another matter: in my school time ~40 y ago we were talking about deteriorating weather conditions (meaning hotter, drier and more weather extremes) in the "developing" countries (especially in the equator region and between the turning circles) in geography, because obviously even then there were the 1st signs of global warming. But in 30 y after that nearly nothing happened to counter that. Oh, and before we forget: drinking water in these regions will become even more rare, and therefore, there will be (more) wars for water, then. And consequently, more migration to the more moderate climates will happen.
And finally, denying global warming is like smoking in a closed room and claiming that other people in that room are not negatively effected by the smoke you produce. Of course they're negatively effected by it, and because of that, smoking is forbidden in very many locations today.
Now here's another prime example what happens when good scientific studies are ignored: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collapse_of_the_Atlantic_nor...
The people who depended on the fishery payed a high price for ignoring warnings. If we ignore and deny global warming then mankind will pay an even higher price.
Heat
> I'm so damn hot
That sounds like you're channeling Crystal, hehe. ;-)
If you can open a portal and send 15 °C my way, that would be nice.
But since I'm afraid that that won't work make sure that you drink enough (2 l or more if possible), do as little as possible and if outside stay in the shadows, if possible. If you have a basement it'd be a good idea to stay there. And remember: if there won't be new chapters for a few days / weeks we'll survive. So only do the things you have no way of getting out of, and if you can't even do those then it's high time to visit a doctor and get medical sick leave.
