It somehow seems a bit more

It somehow seems a bit more noteworthy than run of the mill cat fishing. (note the image below is ALSO a product of FaceApp...)

I've been playing with faceapp since February 2018. I wonder how much of the pictures on the internet come from the app?

Is it just me

Lee's picture

Is it just me or do those pictures look odd. I know the pictures altered looking at them I see some oddities. First off the face looks odd out of place somehow. Second and the smile on all the pictures are the same. There's no no sign of breasts on any of the pictures that I looked at. Fourth whenever there's a neck showing it doesn't fit the face.

The one thing I have to ask myself is am I finding this because I know the pictures I know to be fake or would this be obvious if I didn't know?

Uncanny Valley

Daphne Xu's picture

If it's close, it leads to a certain discomfort -- the uncanny valley. Your first example might be this. However, your others seem different -- the same smile, no breasts, unfitting neck.

Is it because you know the pictures are fake? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer varied from person to person. Many people wouldn't observe those things if they weren't somehow forewarned. Others just might. Then there are those persons trained to search out the anomalies. And then there are those persons who find anomalies where there aren't any.
