Sophomore Spring, the Eleventh book in the Lee Corcoran series, follows Lee Corcoran, in his second year in college at the University of Michigan. His life does not follow the typical male athlete path.

While the book is written to allow a reader to enjoy it without all of the history, if you want to understand all the characters and dynamics in their lives, reading the previous ten books is the only way. Long-term threads and relationships tie the books together. These books primarily follow Lee and his best friend Darby, a girl.

As a freshman in high school, Lee became involved in a girls cheerleading program as an advisor and trainer where he was reluctantly introduced to crossdressing. Lee found that he enjoyed the softer side of clothing. As high school progressed, circumstances forced Lee to wear a feminine wardrobe in more and more situations.

One of the key elements of the storyline is that Lee enjoys his dressing while still wanting to hang onto his masculinity. It is an internal struggle which is a constant battle throughout the series. He has no doubts about his heterosexuality and loves the woman in his life.

Spoiler alert [if you have not read the other books]

Throughout high school, Lee dated women, participated in cheerleading, was the starting shortstop on the baseball team for four years, and wore women’s underwear and outer clothes virtually all the time in his senior year. He and his friends accomplished a lot. Lee ended up being the head cheerleader.

Over time, his best friend, Darby, learned of Lee’s preferences for certain feminine attire. Attending a major university, with a scholarship for cheerleading, Lee spends 100% of his time as a female student. An active member of a national sorority, participating in three sports in all three seasons, Lee has taken on responsibility for charitable activity on campus and nationally for the National Cheerleading Association.
While Darby and he are a couple, they do not present that way in public on campus. On campus, Lee is living in a girl’s dormitory with other cheerleaders.

The previous book ended after the Competition Cheerleading national finals.

Both Lee and Darby have increasing responsibility at their sorority, school and in extracurricular activities.
Lee worked part of the previous summer as a professional baseball trainer and baseball scout. He plans to continue training players for the Detroit Tigers. The pair have done a lot of modeling and surely there will be more requests for their services.

This story deals with a reluctant [less reluctant by book 11] crossdresser who tries not to sacrifice his manhood while enjoying his unusual choice in clothing.

Crossdressing is dealt with as part of a real life.

Given the ages of the characters, the story does not involve explicit sex.
Young adult readers should be comfortable reading this book.

I was going to watch gold rush tonight but this is better

loved it

First of all: i found it on Amazon.de at least: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08SJCX74N/ref=series_rw_dp_sw

Second: any misspelling that follows is due to the fact that i (again as the previouly books) read this book cover to cover as soon as i found it and therefore only got 4 hours of sleep this night -.- (finished around 3am this moning)

Once again i have to say: It is an amazing addition to the "franchise".

The book covers the timeline of the sophomore spring semester, and yes this means some stories take place before or during the timeline of book 10. Heaving read the initial statement from DD (regarding the timeline) i was a little woried that I would get confused but the Author beautifully takes the reader by the hand and makes the necessary notes and comments to clearify where in the timeline you are and reminds you if there are some facts from book 10 you need to be aware of to understand the events taking place so that even someone who did not read the previous books (which i would not understand, but whatever^^) has at least a chance to undertand, what is going on.

In the initial Statement DD also explains, why she did "double up" on the first few weeks of the spring semester, having felt that there were missing informations regarding some of the storylines and now, having read the book, i agree that there were some plots that did miss out in book 10 and i am happy that some of the storylines I thought "lost" (e.g. The issue with their old Highschool team) got additional momentum and in some cases a closing that missed before.

Regarding the overall Story i am thrilled that in the 11th book i was able to get a better understanding and insight to Darby and her thoughts regarding Lee's choice of clothes and her understanding what that means (or does not mean) for their future plans and expectations. I had the distinct feeling this (from my point of view) important viewpoint was missing until now and am glad it was added.

I also must say that i am glad about the "smooth" and elegant solution to the "greek week problem".

And finally this book once again brings up the main issue that lee is having since book 1: The question regarding his perception by society (as well as OF society), the expectations several people have about him and the main question is once again contemplated: Can something that feels right and does not damage other people be wrong even if some people percieve it as such?
And is his dressing in the feminine a passing phase that is doomed from the start due to societies understanding of gender roles?

From my side i realy enjoyed the book and the additional view points, informations and angles on past storylines (from book 10) as well as the new plots that develope during the spring semester.

Best wishes from germany

Enjoyed it!

I enjoyed the book! I love the characters you've created in Lee and Darby, and look forward to more of whatever you write!

Yet another lovely book

Filled in and added to the story and built more depth with the characters. I love the speeches, short but inspirational. Please keep writing Diane.
Looking forward to more, more Portia. More corporate, more Lee.

Just waiting for it to become

Just waiting for it to become available on Amazon.com.au. Also waiting for next book in the Drew Leighton series :)

Thank You

Thanks for the link, bought it :)

As usual

I read the whole book in a night. Looking forward to the 12th book of the series. I was also worried about the flux of the plot but was very happy to see that everything fit and the characters shared with us readers deep insights that were probably needed since a long time ago. I’m always startled when I read books about histories of everyday Life in the US and the violence and everyday dangers that occur in their cities. For Europeans it’s impossible to imagine such things. Violence towards women (and violence in general) happens obviously also here but not to such extent... Our two western worlds are drifting unfortunately further apart.

A long wait with a solid finish

After a long wait I relished catching up with Lee and Darby. While I feel the step back in time was not totally necessary it does introduce a couple of new characters that may be used in future plot lines. The last half of the book introduces a potentially life changing event, how the characters analysis and work through it is excellent and thought provoking. It also explores key characters thoughts and feelings about the key concepts dealt with in the series in more detail then in previous books. Well worth the read, please don't make us wait 12 months for book 12.

A big thank you to Daring Diane for giving us interesting and compassionate people to fill a little bit of our lives with.
