In my opinion you have taken "Words without thoughts never to heaven go" to heart.
Eventually I'll get there too (i.e. one million words). I just have to figure out how to live for another 170 years.

Got me curious
This got me curious so I added up my word count. I didn't include the Reluctant Series, I'm With the Band or Texas Belles since they've been removed from the site. I have a word count just over 1,023,000 give or take.

I suspect that stories are like cooking.
I find eating other people's cooking is so much more enjoyable that eating my own. I've never actually asked but have just assumed that most authors enjoy reading other peoples stories than reading their own.
Reading your own
The problem with reading my own is while I loved the story (or else why write it!!), any re-read inevitably causes cringing at missed editing opportunities to tighten a phrase, improve a description, or even -gasp- fix that cut-n-paste-over-editting-residue typo. It's easier to read other people's works without the editing hat on, though if I've been in editing mode for a week or so the straps on that dang hat are really hard to loosen...

is the word count of the file where I've collected all my stories. That almost certainly is not exactly the same as I would get if I added the "official" word counts. However, the difference is not that big.
As for numbers: As the engineer cum economist child of a mother who carved out a niche as one of the foremost experts in her area based on a steel grip of statistics and a father who was an accountant ...

Not the way I planned to spend my day
Ok, I have done it.
Took all the data from my story list and dropped it is a spreadsheet, but needed to check each word count.
11 months 213 stories for a total of 719,300 words at an average of 3,376 words per story
448,815 reads and 22,516 kudos.
Now why did I do this again??

Word count
This is hopelessly subjective. Each bit of software does things using different rules and the format makes a difference too.
A simple method is to look at the bottom of each of your submissions on BC: there will be a word count there one might class as "official", at least for the site. You can then tot them up just by using the "next" link at the bottom and a calculator. Your favorite word processor will doubtless have a different idea of the count.
I have often thought that the word count of a piece should go at the top where the Kudos are displayed. That way one could determine whether one had enough time to read the item then, or to leave it until later. Having been caught out with some humungous entries, 40,000 words, 70,000 words or greater, this would be useful.

... is the pleasure that you (and I include all authors, here and elsewhere) have given to your readers. And sometimes happy sniffles, and sad sniffles, and insights.
And (geeky me), my browsers let me highlight a word or phrase, right click it for search, then I spend half an hour bouncing on Wikipedia. Sometimes, I can go 'visit' the places your characters 'walked' in. At least one author here specializes in musical links, adding another dimension to the stories. Similarly for food links ...
Being that I am quite 'selfish' ... please stop counting and resume writing already!
