So here we are and after an action filled day I bring you a new set of Photographs!

Previously I took you from Hanham Lock downstream towards Bristol, On Wednesday I started from the Lock and took the riverbank up to Bitton. From there I joggled through idyllic villages, past a Bronze Age barrow and took a nod to the Great A'tuin all wrapped into a 23km hike.

Its a very different terrain to any of the previous walks, the river meanders through the water meadows, past the old Fry's (later Cadbury's) chocolate factory which is now part of a large housing complex, to Keynsham Lock and the nearby bridge, scene of a skirmish in the Duke of Monmouth's 18th century revolt known as the Pitchfork Rebellion. Then through more open countryside until the point where the Avon Valley Railway crosses the river where I headed north to Bitton village with its fine houses, majestic church and looking down from a slight rise, that barrow. Unfortunately it then becomes increasingly urban as I headed back to Fishponds even if there was some interesting stuff on the way.

Some different fauna and flora including the great sky turtle himself, I'm sure you'll enjoy looking for the wee beasties.

Well I hope you enjoyed that, did you spot the Ha Ha, the Sky turtle and the 18th century Zinc factory?

Not sure where Sunday's hike will take me yet but hopefully it will spawn some more interesting wildlife and history.

ta ta for now

My budget precludes travel ...

... and here you are being my own personal (and unpaid :( ) tour guide.

Thank you! :)

Some ask "And what is holding up Great A'tuin?" One answer - "It's turtles all the way down...."

glad

Beautiful country

The river looks calm and inviting for someone with a fishing pole :)

We the willing, led by the unsure. Have been doing so much with so little for so long,
We are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

Still enjoying the images

Best way to really know an area is to walk in it, and it gives exercise too, thanks for posting them.
