I've only gone and done my usual....
I told everyone I'd start one book and try to get it done as quickly as possible....
I lied.
It wasn't deliberate, I just went and had a sleepless night and had another idea....
That is nearly always fatal.
It kills anything I'm doing and heads me off at a tangent.
So, a few days ago I started a new book... it's called 'Namaka' and I have written 36,000 words in a short time... It's like I'm possessed by a muse who refuses to sleep!
Take a girl (who used to be a boy) and she is living a relatively normal life (without complications as she's scared of telling anyone her past, so has avoided relationships)
She heads off on a university field trip to a remote location.. the team find a statue of a sea Goddess (Namaka) and a small cave that has been used as a temple by an ancient civilization. Outside, in a small pool of water, she finds a little turtle on a necklace. There is a small stone as a shell for the turtle.
Weird time - there is a statue of the goddess by the temple and it looks like our heroine - she goes into the cave to find another statue of a big turtle... while wearing the necklace she touches the head of the turtle....
Dimension slip time!
she wakes up somewhere/somewhen else and she really is a she now... oh, and the locals think she's the goddess come to help them at a time of need...
meanwhile, back at home, Covid19 is spreading across the globe and her parents have been told she's gone missing in unusual circumstances...a camera trained on the outside of the cave catches her going in... and not coming out.... police want to suspect one of the party of rape and murder and the rest of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by getting rid of the bloody, but the evidence isn't there....case remains unsolved pending new information.
watch this space....
At this rate, should be finished next week.... target 75,000 words!
There are advantages to being in isolation!
Food parcels to be delivered please (and a couple of bottles of gin with some tonic!)

Looking forward to it......
Of course, I look forward to seeing anything new from you Hon!
This one sounds interesting, and you have obviously tied in current events as well.
So, here I sit, impatiently waiting! Oh, and sorry, no gin in the house. How about a nice single malt? Or there is always some good bourbon as well as rum, tequila, and mixers (think daiquiris or margaritas). And LOTS of wine - red and white, but I am a Reisling girl myself. Oh, and a few bottles of champagne plus OJ if you would like a Mimosa!

So many stories...
... so little time.
Does she ever return to the 21st Century? Perhaps back in ancient times, she spends the next year or two resolving the problems of the ancients and acting as Goddess in general. Meanwhile in the 21st Century*, the police and prosecution are either prosecuting the rest of the party for murder, or they're stymied because they can find no sign of any kind of malfeasance in the cave.
Then a year or two later, she leaves the ancient and returns to the 21st Century. "Where was she all this time?" everyone asks.
* Used ironically, of course. There's no "meanwhile" at different times, perhaps unless a portal between the two times remains continuously open.

Up to 46,000 words now.
Still going, although stuff keeps getting in the way. Have written another 10,000 words since the first entry, which I see is a week ago.. not so good, but steady. I think I was a little ambitious in hoping to get to 75,000 by now. Hopefully, I will finish this before the end of April.

There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes!
When the muse is flowing, it really flows
and you just can't stop going.
I look forward to reading your story soon.
