The wording of your comment suggests there are political ads that are not offensive and misleading. I don't think they make those anymore. ;-)

Temporally turning off the ads seems a sound precaution, Erin. And do vote today, folks, vote intelligently and vote your conscious. Don’t forget the local and state races, they are also important.

I believe the ads she refers to are the "Yes on 8" anti-gay ads purchased by one of the organised hate groups which has injected itself into the California election.

Seriously, many times I feel we would be better served if we fired everyone presently in office and just walked down the streets of our towns and cities tapping people on the shoulder, handing them an airline ticket and saying:
"CONGRATULATIONS. You are the new randmomly selected 'whatever' from this area to our (city, state, federal) assemblies."
Random selection...
We might even make it through two years before the lobbyists begin to have full sway again.

Google is not to be trusted. Just look at their involvement with the government. I have a sneaking suspicion they are Arsenal Gear(reference to Metal Gear Solid 2 here). I truly think people will regret having let Google onto their servers.
