Not a new thing
Bone marrow transplants or any permanent tissue replacement, even getting pregnant where fetal cells actually get into mom happens.
But yes, let’s say we accidentally implant some ‘aggressive’ tissue .... ^_^

DNA Hmmm....
I am absolutely sure both male and female patients have been recipients of opposite sex bone marrow transplants. That forensics lab could/should check a couple of them out too....

One of my classmates...
received bone marrow transplant from a sibling of the opposite gender... And it happens very often as typically best bone marrow donor is a sibling. Who is, statistically, of the other gender in about 50% of the cases.

That DNA and genes are not the only medium to carry on "genetic traits". There are mitochondrial DNA, there are several other mechanisms that regulate how DNA is interpreted. Like there are cases when severe change in the environment caused drastic changes in how DNA is expressed in actual proteins generated. And another funny thing that I read about once... Have no supporting data or links as it happened before Internet. But the premise was that there is a flower. Present in Europe, India, SE Asia, North and South Americas and in the more habitable parts of Africa. Basically, everywhere where there are grasses or trees present. That flower looks about the same on all continents. And that flower from Asia can mate with flower from Africa, Europe or any of the Americas. Producing viable offspring that can reproduce. Only problem is... There is no DNA match between most of those species to the degree that some of them have differing number of chromosomes...
And it is not counting that typical DNA usually contains much more information than required to code bodies that it is present in.

What an incredibly fascinating article
Clearly this testing needs to be repeated many times to ensure it’s not just some glitch in the testing process.
But if it’s true, the ramifications are huge. I’m not certain how similar the dna has to be for a donor match, but mtf and ftm are obvious donations which allow us authors all manner of writing opportunities.
