I always dreamed about being allowed to go to school dressed as I always wanted. Of course, back in the dark ages it just wasn't possible.
But I saw this today and breathed a sigh of relief that at least somebody now gets it.

However, I'm not sure about the boy who thought he was a girl at 18 months. Our two grand-daughters are just 26 months and have great difficulty understanding the difference between "boy" and "girl", "man" and "woman", frequently getting their guesses wrong. Of course, at that age they probably don't even know why there has to be more than one gender. At age 4 or 5, maybe, but 18 months seems a little suspect.

My own childhood was very different. I remember mother talking about my being a girl very early on, and I remember the little dresses I wore. Later my new stepfather would insist that I was a boy, but around age 4-5 I distinctly remember having my Electra Complex moment. We were all gathered around an overheated wood stove, trying to keep warm in our drafty homesteader's cabin and I remember looking at the men and feeling revulsion, I am not like them. Then I looked at mother and my stepsister and thinking that I was like them.
In waco, protestant/Amish culture children are taught shame and guilt very early on for any thought that they have that is not keeping with the gender binary. All this is artificial and should humanity survive, perhaps one day our clothing won't matter.
I can remember being 18
I can remember being 18 months old and standing in our driveway with my brother (3.5) and sister (2.5) talking with the neighbors from across the street. They were twins, Rocky and Robin, brother and sister and they were about 3. At the time I knew there were boys and girls and they were different, but I didn't understand the differences. We didn't really start to understand the differences until 6 or 7.
I can understand that a boy 18 months old might be confused about the differences between boy and girl and mistakenly think he was girl, or think it would be fun to pretend to be a girl, but still at that age they don't understand the differences.
I'm glad to see someone is helping them to experiment safely so they can better understand who they really are.

I wore something pink to school
It was a pink shirt. Well, it was the late 1960's and just about everything went. I even had a pink jacket bought from a shop on the Kings Road. I wore both on my last day at school aged 15. This was the day that man first set foot on the moon.
That got me got pummelled by Philip 'tipo' George and Barry Franklin for my troubles. Nothing new there. I was regular cannon fodder for them. They supported Chelsea and I supported Spurs. After the pummelling both the jacked and shirt were fit only for the bin.
Perhaps this is why I virtually hate pink?
Saw a woman today out jogging as I passed through Bishop, CA. She was dressed all in white but with the most lurid, vivid pink trainers. Talk about a colour clash...
Then I followed an RV with 4 bikes strapped to the back. Two had pink mudguards. Guess what RV has two young girls inside????
Pah. Stereotypes everywhere.
