All the busses around here are showing "Lest We Forget" on their route indicators.
I'll be paying tribute tomorrow morning at my local war memorial.

As
a family with relatives on both sides of both World conflicts its difficult to forget for the other 364 days of the year. In this last month we've 'celebrated' the sacrifice of a couple of great uncles, one from the first conflict dying near Ypres, the other served in both wars and lost his life to a German mine off the Suffolk coast.

Veteran's Day vs Memorial Day
I can not speak for the rest of the world, but in the US, Veteran's Day is as special as Memorial Day but in a slightly different way. On Memorial Day (in May) we honor those fallen comrades in all conflicts, world wide. It is a special time to spend in memory and there are ceremonies all over the country and maybe the world. On Veterans Day, formerly "Armistice Day," it is that special time when we honor ALL of our military. Both the fallen and those who have or are serving now. Originally known as Armistice Day, it celebrated the end of World War I, as the Armistice was signed on 11/11/1918 at 11 AM. In 1955, the government decided to rename the day as Veterans Day, celebrating all veterans.
As a veteran, I want to thank ALL of those, especially among the BCTS family, who have served their country. Thank you for your service! Let's not forget the fallen, but also remember the veterans, many of whom are not getting any support from their country, who raised their right hand. I am proud to have served with you.
Lest We Forget
Thanks your post made me reflect and look back at a story I posted in 2014.
We should never ever forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
