Well I might not be in a position to post new Gaby but I can still do this!
It's been some weird weather in GOC (aka Yorkshire) strong winds, sunshine of both the solar radiation and H2O precipitation types. That certainly made for an interesting day for me, riding if you recall, a 100mile event in the Dales. The good news is that I survived, less good is that i'm exhausted after slogging into a headwind on some of the toughest legs of the course. As one of the 'highlights' is riding up to Ribblehead viaduct - it might only be @ 250m of climbing but with rain and a headwind - not fun!
So yes, 100miles, 160km, 2241m of ascent and something like 6 hours 15 mins of effort. Yep i'm pooped.
I had intended to write tomorrow, I might have to take a rain check on that if the brain isn't running so well!
There will be new Gaby on Wednesday so look out for that and all the latest news

Headwinds, rain and climbs
Your mistake was the climbs. As a cyclist on the Canadian prairies, I can tell you with authority that climbs are the real problem. A steady downpour and a 60 kph headwind and I'm just fine.
Of course, on days like that I'm at home reading in front of a warm fire... I mean, who'd go out riding in wind and rain!?
I should
Just point out, it wasn't raining when I set off, in fact there was even a bit of sunshine!
For completeness, the next proper climb - a series of 20/25% ramps out of Settle onto the moors it did it again! I can tell you, climbing at 25% is never fun, into a stiff wind with some wet thrown in.... Not only that but it opens out into a landscape that offers little shelter from the elements before dropping back to lower altitudes (on a twisty, sometimes steep descent that in other conditions could be fun, if a little sketchy in places).

Headwinds are a killer as well
I ran into some 30-40mph headwinds yesterday afternoon as I rode from Exeter to Penzance on the Triumph. Knocked 4mpg off the economy at 60mph but the image of Maddy peddaling up to Ribblehead in the rain beats that hands (or should I say pedal) down.
Samantha
of course
The really annoying bit is getting to the top and having to pedal down the other side!
