I'm a big fan of showing the angst involved in a transformation.
The latest edition of Wildcats is a primer in telling a heck of a story while exploring the protagonist's self-search.
Can't wait for Ellen's appearance.

Oh, wow!
Thank you very much for that wonderful compliment/observation.
I have really enjoyed getting to know my girls and hearing them talk in my head. I wonder what that makes me?
Regardless, whenever I talk about the Wildcats or Jessica aloud to others in real time, I hear and see my own experiences and what I glean from others around me who share.
My old writing teachers always told me to write about what I know, but if that's all I wrote about, it would be b-o-r-i-n-g!
Why I Read
I read for the enjoyment of guessing what will happen next.
Beyond that, it is a huge plus to me when I learn new things while reading a great story.
You've taught me about music, fashion, business, and intersex. Before I wrote Ma Cherie Amour I read several books about intersex and did considerable online research. Yet - you've taught me more.
It's obvious you understand music. I love your lyric. I love the process you describe. I love the side conversations -- for example -- the possible racial backlash to the Flowers.
Keep writing what you know . . . your writing teachers knew their stuff.
