Chapter Two

The next morning as I was eating my breakfast, I heard a knock on the door. Since I was back in my drabs, I opened it wide to find Jenn standing there. “Hello, Jennifer,” I told her.

Jennifer kissed me on the cheek right in the open of everyone passing by. The kiss caused a few ‘aahs’ and at least one ‘get a room’ told in jest. I responded to the last one by blushing red with embarrassment. “We have two,” Jennifer said in response to the jest comment. “I wanted to say hi, Sweetie, and make sure you didn’t change your mind.” She said towards me.

“I will still do it, Jenn, will you come in?” I told her.

She said she was short on time, and asked if it was a request or a demand. I told her, “just a friendly invitation, Girlfriend.”

After she pleads that she was short on time, I decided to press my luck. I leaned over and kissing her on the lips, before waving goodbye to her. I swear that Jennifer almost feels over, before skipping down the hall towards the bus that would take her to work. Shaking my head I returned to my breakfast.

While walking past Kayleigh’s office on the way to Wardrobe I glanced at the schedule, apparently, they changed me to Daisy at the last minute. I could have sworn I was Chip before my days off. Kayleigh must've noticed I was standing outside her office. “Smith, can you come in here?” She asked.

I entered her office and asked, “Do you want the door closed?”

“Doesn’t matter to me. Jennifer Anderson stopped by and asked if you could work for her next Friday. Is that correct?” She continued.

“Yes, I agree to work for her on her birthday. She is supposed to be Van.”

Kayleigh went on, “She did say you would need to learn the signature. I told her it was her responsibility to teach you. You will need to do the signature correctly for me before next Thursday.”

I nodded at her, and said “Okay.”

Kayleigh continued, “She joking asked for permission to teach you the Alice signature. I told her, she may. I highly doubt you will be using that knowledge.”

Mumbling under my breath, I said, “Jenn I am going to get you back.”

“I did not get what you said, Mike,” Kayleigh told me.

Blushing I said, “it was aimed at Jennifer.”

“Well you better get your outfit from Wardrobe…” she started. Then almost as an afterthought, she said, “Jennifer also mentioned that you have perfect Alice and Silvermist voices.”

Blushing even redder I said, “I disagree, Dew Drop,” as Silvermist. I finished with saying “Hey Mister White Rabbit, Mister White Rabbit,” as Alice as I left the room. Just for kicks, I was waving my arms around, and basically acting like Alice while I was saying that last bit. Sneaking a glance behind me, it appeared my boss’s mouth was hanging open in shock.

I just shook my head as I got in the Wardrobe line. When it was my turn I gave my name to the attendant, and after a few moments got the Daisy outfit in reply on its cart. I wheel the cart towards the long-closed Odyssey restaurant which will be my changing and break room today. By now I don’t need help putting most of the outfit on. I had most of it on before Amanda my character attendant showed up. After drinking a bottle of water, I had her help me put the head on. I then promptly went out in the heat of Florida to meet my adoring fans.

Putting on the Daisy sass for the children who want to meet you just makes this job all worth it. I must have signed fifteen autograph books before I heard Amanda say “Daisy has to check on Donald a second, she will be back in about five minutes.”

That was my clue that my Thirty-minute break time was here. Like clockwork, my fellow Daisy was waiting in the break room for me to walk into it. Amanda helped me out of my head, before helping Steph into her head, and walking out of the room with her. I freed my hands, before drinking some much-needed water.

Looking at the clock, I figured Amanda will be back soon for me. So I quickly threw my snickers wrapper away before putting my gloves back on. Sure enough, the door was soon opened up. Again like clockwork, Amanda freed Steph and cloaked me behind the head.

It was time to put the sass on, and meet more pint-sized fans, and some not so small ones. My day was normal for most of the day, meet and greet, break, so on. But as I was returning to meet the last fans for the day, I noticed a certain brunette in line. I currently wasn’t sure if I was happy with Jenn right now. She was the last person in line. Amanda was in the process of closing the line behind her.

Technically Jenn didn’t know if Daisy was Steph, or myself. I escorted my friend to in front of the photographer, and then signed the book she offered me. I interacted with her when she asked Daisy had seen Donald lately. I miming that he swept me off my feet. She got her time, and then it was time for me to head to the break room to get out of this now sweaty costume.

As I walked by Kayleigh’s office again, I was called in it. “Mike, I need your signature on this Change Order.” She told me. I glanced at it, everything looked normal and correct. Except that instead of Mike Smith, I was down as M. Smith. I also noticed that Jennifer’s name had also been shortened to J. Figuring that the boss lady was just being lazy, I didn’t raise a fuss about it. I just signed my John Hancock. With that being done, I continued towards Wardrobe with the outfit.
