Chasing the spammers away (or trying to)
I think I might have tossed a bit more of the barrage of spam that the system is under. As for the person that posted a spam blog entry he/she has been locked out of the system.
The site's software really needs a few updates so Erin will have to schedule a time to do that.

As for the mail bombs. tell the server to ignore invalid stuff and NOT to send out a error message. It's not a GREAT option, but it sure helps the server cope with things.

That's what we did :)
But a real flood still causes problems because of the CPU/database intensive nature of drupal. Had to resched all the cron jobs to the middle of the night.

I figured you or Bob already had, but sometimes the most over-looked solution to certain things is the obvious one, so I thought I'd post anyways. I've been lucky with no massive spammers on GZ lately, but Crystal has been working hard to keep them out of StorySite, and her stuff is all homebrew -sigh-...
