Be calm dear

We know your heart is in the right place, and more of us care about you than you think.

Take care of yourself dear

Not Really

We all have our moments. Don't hog all the credit (or blame). ;-)

"Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.”

more importantly

what's wrong?
We all know how hard she has pushed herself to keep this leaky boat afloat.
Such physical and emotional exhaustion casn easily lead to pneumonia and other yucky things.
I'm sure we all have our fingers crossed or whatever each of us does to help a friend in need of aid and comfort.

In the meantime, everyone should think positive thoughts and wish Erin a speedy recovery.

Thanks everyone

Just an ordinary case of diverticulosis. Need to eat bland foods for a while.

Hugs to all,
Erin

Hi

I could send some 2 Minute noodles. (Might be a bit broken coming from Oz BUT they are definitely BLAND)

Take care

Thank GOD! For a while there we were all worried.

I'm so glad to hear it's nothing serious. I don't wanna have to put an ad in a help wanted column for a cat herder. must have at least 20 years experience. Hmmm. Maybe an assistant cat herder?

Well, I can go to sleep now, knowing that our Mom, err Sister, yeah that's it, is gonna be okay.

It's nothing 'too' serious, any illness is not good though so look after yourself.

No surgery I hope

That's a relief, Erin, be very conservative in your diet, The old school MDs said no corn of any kind, stay away from seeds on bread products, and if you must eat nuts, only eat well chewed cashews
Get better fast, Turkey day is coming.

Hugs, Karen

Diverticulosis.

Sorry to learn of your problem darling. Glad to learn that you're allowed access to your computers, so at least you'll stay sane. I've had a diverticuli growing out of my large intestine for years. It was picked up during a barium scan and the doctor said to leave it alone. Just make sure I eat a properly balanced diet. So glad you're able to stay in contact but more importantly, make sure you're recovered so look after yourself. I would ordinarily say 'pamper yourself' a bit but dietary constraints might put the kybosh on that. xx Bev.

Taking the strain

You have my sympathies.
If they offer you a colonoscopy be American and tell them to stick the bloody thing up their own asses, (not arses).
Mind you, it is nice when when it slips out. (Golly-Gosh, did I really say that!)

I had one ward sister tell me not to eat kiwi fruit or anything with small pips. That's just about every fruit I like so I've chosen to ignore the advice and short of the odd touch of constipation, I'm not suffering. I keep senacot handy, I find it helpful when I have a blockage with my writing as well.

Get well soon and can I be the first to sign the plaster of paris bandage they use on you're nether regions.

Frances, the low-down-dirty-bum.

Diverticulitis

Is not to be taken lightly. Two people I know well ended up with colostomy bags so take extra care with your diet. We don't want to lose you!

Cure it, don't tolerate it

Erin, every person is different. Sometimes the problem on the surface isn't the problem but a result of the problem. Those of us who pass out advice across the web are worse than witch doctors. We truly need hands on, eyes on, the patient. That said..., yeah, here it comes.
Colloidal silver and probiotics. One to get rid of and cure your problem, the other to make sure your intestine is still working to give your body necessary fuel for health and healing.
Love you kid, take care.

Father, one of your own needs an angel of healing to administer to her. In Jesus name I ask for this blessing. Amen.

always,

I'm sure everyone wants to see you well, home, and happy. (Yes, I believe in that second comma.) You are such a pivotal force in everyone's life. You are the oxygen of BigCloset and we can't live without you.

Colonoscopies & Diverticulitis

Robyn B's picture

While not wanting to make light of Erin's particular circumstances, I come across diverticula quite often in my professional life. I am an Endoscopy Nurse among other things and I see many diverticula in the course of my work. Usually it is an incidental finding and there is not much we can do to 'cure' these things short of bowel resection and all that that entails.

Most people have no identifiable diverticula, some one or two, some many. A diverticulum usually only becomes a problem if it fills with stuff that cannot escape through normal bowel activity and leads to a build up of bugs that cause an inflammatory response by the body to deal with it. This invariably leads to a belly ache of varying degrees sometimes requiring hospitalisation for treatment.

As others have mentioned, a bland diet for awhile will help the bowel to settle down and the body to deal with the inflammation. Once things return to an apparent normal, the diet can have more flavourful things added until the patient starts to feel kack again.

I expect the Erin will recover soon enough and I am sure that wild horses will not be able to keep her away from doing what she does to keep us, her reading & writing community in a state of bliss.

Glad to see your explanation

But, I must apologise, I have just been sending PMs to two new authors suggesting they contact you for advice one on how to get instalment links set up, and the other on how to insert a Kudos button.
I have seen your help to so many authors, though my imagination is such that I cannot see how I will ever be one.
I looked up your problem on Wikipedia which has separate entries for -osis and -itis of which the latter is more serious. I really hope that your truly is the former, as you report.
Best wishes indeed
Dave

No sign of infection

erin's picture

They couldn't even find evidence of any of the usual bugs that might have set off the original "food poisoning" attack. Because of that, a "stomach virus" is suspected. But it already seems to be clearing up. I'm going to avoid spicy foods, seeds, nuts, and fruit skins for a while at least. Which is a shame because salsa and almonds are major parts of my usual diet.

But I'm feeling much better this morning. :)

Hugs,
Erin

Whew!

Not that it is a cake walk... but E.R. can conjure imaginations (of which there are many strong imaginations here) to get the better of us.

Hugs Erin,
