It's been a week, and huzzah! The votes are in!

All the stories in the contest did quite well, but two in particular managed to grab the most thumbs-up from our readership, and those two were:

Cursed, by Nuuan

The Fairy, by Bru

Congrats, young authoresses! I get paid this coming Thursday, upon which each of you will be given your prize, a three month subscription to the BCTS Hatbox!

That's not to slight the work of our other contestants! Everyone did great jobs, and gave us a lot of different takes on the idea of a fairy tale romance, from the surprisingly dark to the quirkily parodic (is "parodic" a word? Feh.) Thank you to every one of our entrants; you're all fantastic, and I'm proud to have been a part of this with you!

If you haven't checked out everyone's work yet, be sure to go to the contest tag in this blog's description and let the authors know how much you appreciate them. I may not have commented on every story, but I've got a vote cast for every one :) And, last but not least, be sure to tune in next weekend for July's contest announcement, with another two subscriptions available for the taking!

Re: Congratulations to the winners!

I'll add my congratulations here. Well done, Nuuan and Bru!

Thanks for running this one, Melanie. This contest spawned several very interesting stories, well worth the reading.

Thanks to Melanie

and to Nuuan and Bru and the authors...

Thank you Melanie for organising the contest!

It was fun even though Nuuan sneaked ahead of me with a story posted not long before the dead-line and a good story at that! Chapeau!

And thank you all you who voted for my and the other stories.

The one thing that worries me when looking at the package of Kudos from Andrea Lena is that I seriously doubt I could manage 50 bars, I'd get far too drunk. Perhaps milk bars?

Bru

Thanks, Melanie and Entrants...

...and now I can go back and kudos the ones I didn't vote for. (Including, as it happens, both of the winners.) Doesn't seem to me that a vote has much value in choosing the winner of a contest if you vote for everyone. Kudos, on the other hand...

Eric

Congratulations to everyone in the contest

Happily the contest became too political for me to vote. All the authors were great so where do I say one is better than the other? To the two winners, Nuuan and that scoundrel Bru (can girls be scoundrels)? The girl is already untenable, only God knows what he'll be like with fifty chocolate bars?

Hugs to all who entered the contest. No kisses though. We ain't that kind of friends..., yet.

You coulda voted for 'em all!

People seem to misunderstand my choice to use the kudos as the sole deciding factor of the winner. It really has nothing to do with one story being objectively "better" than another: it's all about making sure as many people take the time to show the authors their appreciation as possible.

The goal isn't to pick a "winner" as such; it's to show support for stories you love, and authors you want to see more from. Even the prize(s) being offered are less about some big grand Thing being won or awarded; it's about showing appreciation for the site we have, and the people who are a part of it.

So, next time if you're unsure about wanting to give a like/kudo/vote/thumbs-up/whatever you wanna call it to one over another, give it to both. Give it to ALL of 'em! Because every author here deserves it.
