if only i had dared

"if only i had dared": a poem of introspection!

if only i had dared.
once, way back when, when the future was yet to be,
once, i had dream, a dream of me, and all that i would do,
a dream full of other dreams, and futures bright,
of wondrous things that i could see,
full of hope, of joy, of life,
wondrous visions that never really got to see the light.
but time did pass, as i hid away,
only to late, mourning each lost and wasted day.
so now i only dream of dreams gone past,
memories of visions, lost yet not forgotten,
hopes that did not seemed to last,
and wonder where the days have gone,
when dreams where things of days to come,
instead of thoughts of old visions past,
as my clock of life seems nearly done,
dreams, lost to time, to timidness, to fear,
memories of what might have been,
had i just dared to do, to live, to try,
so now i just dream of those futures past,
and old hopes, let slipped away, gone by(e),
and wonder about lost might-have-beens,
had i just dared to live my dreams,
and spread my wings and fly.

I think the phrase

to describe it might, for some of us be "yeah, that".
