Thanks to whichever Divine Being is responsible for the Mount Kilauea volcano eruption being the way it is.
Yes, it is causing a lot of damage that will cost a lot to repair.
In it's favour though, the slow eruption has allowed 2000 people to safely evacuate with only 1 serious injury, no-one has died from it.
The true benefit is the knowledge being gained about volcanoes in general and Mount Kilauea in specific. This massive increase helps Volcanologists improve prediction models, making them better able to predict eruptions.
Just think what an eruption of one of the many volcanoes with high density city on it's slopes will do if the eruption is not predicted and people warned in time to evacuate.

Duh, the volcano is active
How silly. The entire Hawaiian chain leads into the Emporer Sea Mounts. There's and interesting discontinuity in the angle between the two chains, suggesting a change in the movement of the plate over the hot spot millions of years ago. Volcanos make land. They made the entire island chain, and they are still doing the same thing they've been doing for milllions of years.
So, a few ephemeral humans happen by and are awe struck at the majesty of creation. Somehow they get upset that the volcano continues to exist and doing the same thing it's always done, completely ignoring our species' hubris.
No worship needed. Stand in awe of the wonders of our world.

Speaking of appeasing the volcano gods, now there's a t.g. story I haven't seen yet! (and okay, probably for good reason...). Beautiful young crossdressing tourist enters the Volcano Princess beauty contest, wins, is pampered and feted and treated like royalty... it's a dream come true!
Until she finds out why being a virgin was a key requirement for entering the pageant.

Humans are doing what we have always done, getting out of the way. It behooves us to remember we live on magma with a thin crust on top, If Yellowstone ever blows its top then we will try to get out of the way just as we have always dome, the moon looks more like prime real estate all the time. There is no real safety this side of the grave.
Luckily Yellowstone will have a bit of warning
Unfortunately, people will still not move if it means leaving their homes.
In any case, the US would not recover from such a disaster.
I have family in Hawaii
Of course not on THAT island. She finally sent out a group text to the rest of the family after receiving tons of phone calls asking if she and the kids were okay. I guess most tend to forget the state of Hawaii is a chain of islands.

Also, Hawaii, the "Big Island" is... big. The portion actually affected by the eruptions in a dangerous way is rather small. (Not to minimize how bad it is for people living in that area.)
