Can anyone tell me when hair dye-remover was first used, as in the approximate year? Google has been no help.

Thanks.

Try Hair Bleach

Apparently, Loreal invented hair color products in 1904. As to bleach ... ?

Roman times

Not a lot of help but the Romans used hair dye and bleach and hair dye removal techniques. There are some documents from the time complaining about the frivolity of it. Rome also had a law that prostitutes had to have yellow hair, so dyeing one's hair was somewhat scandalous.

Great Restraint

There's a comment to be made here about the color of hair and whores -- and how little things have changed. Where's Zero Mostel when we need him to explain it all?

This appears to be something

This appears to be something different than bleach.

Colour Remover enters your Hair shaft and removes all the artificial Colour pigment (Permanent Hair Colour) from your Hair. It will leave your Natural Colour pigment intact / alone. It also leaves your Hair in great condition. Bleach enters your Hair shaft and destroys all the artificial and Natural Colour pigment.
