"The Narragansett Fork" was the second bit of writing I posted on BCTS. When I realized, perhaps mistakenly, that my stories might be suitable for mainline publishing, I published them on Amazon Kindle. Unfortunately, I had to unpublish them here. I am currently running a 99 cent special that should go for a few more days. Some of you may remember this was the story that introduced Musetta Meyers. She was a transgender woman who meets and falls in love with the murderous Richard O'Donnell, the prime antagonist in the first novel, "The Heart of the Beholder." The novel that follows this one is "Musetta's Waltz" which is Musetta's autobiography.

Here is the summary of "The Narragansett Fork."

In all honesty it is a small fork. It is at best a little over six inches long and for the type of fork that it is it’s probably a bit heavy. The weight is due to the number of sea shell reproductions and other things attached to it. Still, it is just a little fork. What was it about it that caused what happened? What was the power it held that changed so many people’s lives forever? The fork was neither good nor evil. It just existed. Historical records said it had been made, but there hadn’t been any pictures and no one for sure knew what it looked like. However, it did exist and what it precipitated when it finally came to light could never have been anticipated. This is a story of a little girl and the tremendous love around her. She was a little girl who may never have been found if it hadn’t been for the fork.

A prominent citizen of Redding, California is found hanging from a tree in his back yard in an apparent suicide; however, it becomes apparent early on that it was no suicide, but instead, a brutal murder. Police Lt. George Essegian is put in charge. Clues lead George and Ed Stephens to Stockton, where they discover a second murder was committed only a couple of days before in Pasadena, hundreds of miles to the south. There is no question the two murders are connected. Ed Stephens continues south to assist in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Mike and Jo O’Donnell are enjoying life as parents of twins, Sean and Katherine. They have just returned from Washington, DC where Mike received the Medal of Honor from the President for his heroics in Afghanistan. Mike never expected to be involved in the murder case; however, he and Jo are brought in under the strangest of circumstances. Ed Stephens and the Pasadena Police Department find the murderer; however, things only get more and more complicated. Somewhere, there is a nearly eleven year old girl. Time is running out because the police won’t be able to keep a lid on the case for very long. It seems the little girl is going to be very, very rich. Suddenly, Mike and Jo are leading the search for a little girl who has been lost for nearly eleven years.
