Well i'm getting a bit jiggy on three fronts this weekend.

First is the possibility that Chris Froome will, in less than 48 hours take his 4th TdeF title. Yep, just 22km remain to affect the result - no one's daft enough to race on Sunday other than the sprinters. The race hasn't exactly been action packed, the loss of some exciting riders early on has coloured that but it certainly shouldn't detract from the achievement.

Next up, on Sunday you should be able to get hold of the newest Gaby release, part one of the still un named 21st book. After the last few dark months and weeks at Chez Bell i'm getting things back together on the personal, writing and cycling fronts.

Lastly, on Monday I depart with Dad for the Pyrenees - I'm still not sure how I feel about going, Mum should be here to go but instead it's me looking after the old Git, he's 86. We'll make the best of it I guess.

As a warning, there will be new Gaby on Sunday but then I don't expect to be able to post again before August.

Bye for now

Getting it together

is good. Sometimes things can just knock you on your back, can't they? Have fun in them there hills, don't suppose there will be a lot of cycling included this time, but sun and scenery should be good.

Just had to mention it huh!

Indeed no riding for a ten day. Well possibly tomorrow if it stays dry long enough!

All of 23km this morning without keeling over - about as flat as I could find in these parts but still 300m of up hill!

Question now is whether I go for next year's Otztaler with 5500m of up!

Don't worry about posting.

We will have our pitchforks holstered and torches unlit... For some time... Dont make us wait for too long....
On a more serious note, in our history some 80+ people were designing fighter airplanes and others were designing space rockets. Old gits have their uses. Just understanding that they are not this quick on the uptake, will help you tremendously. And remember, that as is with babies, they remember everything, but not always are able to verbalise their opinion in queen's English.
I'm not old by any means, but often instead of saying something like: "Could you please catch that piece of machinery trying to run under that big machine?" I produce something vaguely recembling "aaaa!!!! AAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!"

Old Git is still pretty much there, he can be a bit cantankerous but not overly so. Relationships with dad's are different to mums, as kids we saw much less of him but he's always been there. The last few months he's unquestionably supplied taxi services for me and he's been looking after mum on a day to day basis since her first funny turn maybe ten years ago. He's never complained although I know he got frustrated with her at times - we all did.

So if my old git wants to sit watching TV or go traipsing around Europe he's earnt the right, if he wants me along, well realistically there's no one else who can, so be it.
This time round it's having a change of the four walls, see some new places, recharge the severely depleted batteries. The old git won't last forever but hopefully for a while yet - his elder sister is still annoying my cousins so long life runs on that side of the family!

Enjoy it.

Not that many get a chance to share such precious moments with their dad. Ten days sans wheels is a small price to pay. Carpe Diem.
