Hi everyone

Got back home last e'en from an exhausting trip around the NRW (Nord Rhein Westfalia) region of Germany. Gab's dragged me from Muenster in the north to Aachen in the west and south as far as Bonn to enjoy the pleasures of the Weihnachtsmarkts. It was a gruelling week, 28 market sites in 11 different towns and cities which added 27 beverage containers to my burgeoning Gluehwein mug collection! Hopefully next week, when we've recovered a bit, i'll post an A to er S of the trip complete with pictures.

I won't say I'm glad to be home, I really am not but I'm glad to not be travelling very far for a few days!

It'll be back to the keyboard again tomorrow but in the meantime the latest chapter of book 14 - Italian Dream is now here on BC.

For now, sit back and enjoy

Must have been some trip...

Aachen is in the west of Germany. It is close to the Belgian border and was the first stop on the train in Germany when travelling east from Brussels. :)
Now if you had said Hof then I would have believed you. I had a ride in the Cab of a DB 2-8-2 from Hof Station to the Shed in 1972.

Blonde moment! Of course Aachen is in the west - and just for the record I have been to Hof but that's in Bayern not NRW.

HOF and NRW

I know that. I did spend a happy summer working for the BAOR based at Bunde (on the railway line from Hannover to Osnabruck).

The main question is...

What 'must buy' thing or things did you find at the market?

must have?

Well there was loads of great stuff - not that I bought much at all other than food and drink. Ceramic houses are popular as well as 'Binen' products although some of the traditional staples like silly hats and choco tools were less popular this year.

Thanks again for keeping us updated. (I thought I had said this earlier today but I guess I hit the wrong button)
