I've been having problems with my internet for ages and in despair decided to go to a new provider. My phone has apparently gone over but my broadband hasn't. It would appear that my old provider has stopped my internet access so I'm having to make do with my mobile device which is slower and sometimes unreliable. Hopefully this will all be sorted out next week some time, so if I seem to be noticeable by my absence you know why.

Ready to strangle someone

You must be feeling ready to strangle someone Angharad - the big companies carefully avoid giving information that would help us avoid these problems or identify anyone to attack. Good luck with the virtual move and I hope the UK weather is fine enough to allow you to vent your frustrations through cycling.

Frustration - just a bit

Since I retired (6/52) my car has been in the garage half a dozen times trying to sort a problem that seems to move around the 7 computers/sets of sensors that control exhaust emissions, I've had a new central heating boiler, a new washing machine arrives tomorrow, interminable fun with the internet suppliers, had my dvd recorder go phut and fallen off my bike. It's also precipitated down most days recently including today. To say I'm fed up is an understatement.

On the bright side…

… if you were with me you would have just received a tsunami warning. I don't get television to record and if you were to stay here too long I expect a tropical cyclone (hurricane) will pass this way. As they sing “Let’s face the music and dance” even if it’s going backward in high heels.

UK right?

You're in the UK right? How are the selections there honestly?

Much depends upon where you live

I live in a small market town so things like cable aren't an option. The problem is BT own the infrastructure so no one else can do anything that involves the national phone network (typical Tory cock up), so we have to cope with a medieval system run by money grabbing misers who do the minimum to invest in new equipment, my copper wired phone lines are over thirty years old and designed for phone use not broadband. I can't get fibre because there isn't enough room in the cabinets they have on street corners to do one for me. It's laughable, Bell, a Brit, invents the phone system and I don't think anything has been done to improve it since.

There are half a dozen big companies all of them are as good or bad as each other, the problem is forcing BT to replace the old infrastructure instead of wasting billions on bloody football matches, which no intelligent life form wants to watch. I'm sure it wouldn't be tolerated in any other major western nation.

Uhhh...

Have you seen long it's taken for the U.S. to go higher end BB? Ridiculous that a private organization are allowed to own the Infrastructure.

I assume BT stands for British Telecom? Is it government owned or a business?

Oh and what is wrong with Football?! I assume you're not talking about American Football. I'm not a big sports fan but I do like Futbol a bit given some of the reflexes/coordination it takes to play the game. They are overpaid though.
