It's that time of month again. We've already paid several hundred in bills this month and we will be paying about more hosting fees and software fees later in the month, plus the amount we pay Piper for being available for all the work she does.

As always, these gifts are greatly appreciated and go for more than just keeping BC online since we host several other community sites and are getting involved with several more.

You can make a gift to use via http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/page/10799/hatbox-subscriptions the Hatbox, which will also give you access to some premium content that you may not have seen.

Or you can go to http://janglewood.com/ to use the P*A*Y*P*A*L gift box there.

Or PM me for other methods of contribution.

And thanks.

Hugs,
Erin, Piper and Cat

The ones under Fiction, Community and Hosted by Us, get some sort of support from BC, though some of those are paying us rather than the other way around. Did it occur to you that it is rather rude to ask such a question anonymously? :)

Community

Perhaps you didn't notice that she said "That is a fair thing to ask for." By her definition it wasn't rude. . .I guess. I thought it was rude, and normally I have thick skin. . .too thick some say.

Erin, you've always been about establishing a community. It's up to you to decide the boundaries of that community. If you think another site is part of that community, then it is.

Rude???

If YOU'RE asking for money than it's rude to imply the person you're asking doesn't have the right to know what it's used for (or that they should be anything other than anonymous). Registered charities (I know you're not one) are required to track expenditures and supply any potential donor a break down of what your money is likely to be spent on. It might be a good idea to include a similar breakdown on the donation page.

Rude Is As Rude Does

You're right it *might* be a good idea. Also any time over the last many, many years it *might* have been a good idea for Erin to walk away from this very expensive hobby and leave us without a place that welcomes us.

It's bad enough that she has to beg for money as often as she does, please don't make it any harder by demanding that she make full disclosures. It's obvious her expenses are extensive. Think of the other sites that went under because they couldn't put up with the expense and the kind of nonsense you're suggesting.

I've sent Erin money for years and believe that I've received far beyond my contributions in value.

Further . . . had the initial person contacted Erin with a private message and asked a similar question she might have received a different response. Think about it.

Maximizing my contribution

Hi Erin,
I notice that there's a charge to you to recieve contributions via Amazon, Paypal, etc.Can you indicate which method maximizes my contribution to you? I'd have PM'd you, but I don't think I can do that as a 'Guest Reader'.

The bit

erin's picture

Paypal takes a bite of about 2.9%. Amazon's bite is about the same for larger contributions, more for smaller ones.

Checks and money orders, preferably in US dollars, can be sent directly to me but I hate to put my address publicly on the internet. Sign up for an account and PM me and I will give it to you if you like.

Hugs,
Erin

Contributing...

Hi Erin,
It's been a couple of weeks...but it's Halloween today - a fitting day to sign up!. So I took your recommendation to heart and decided to join and to put my money where my eyeballs (are on a daily basis)! Now if I could just figure out the 'PM' process (?), I'd drop you a note.
