So the internet connection issue should be over now. Changed from Frontier to Comcast Xfinity. So instead of using the 30 year old phone lines that are old and need replacing (At our expense) We are going with the wifi thingy from Comcast. And wow, got so used to slow speeds on the old service, this one is 25 Mbps and it's beating the socks off whatever it was we had through frontier, that was also $30 more. No contract on this.

And for the past week, All I had was my phone and from the 3rd to the 8th, I was over the data usage for the month and it was so freaking slow, unless I was at work and when I am there, this site is blocked. Something about being porn. They also block another site I like and the reason they have is nudity and humor. Okay, I can see nudity, but blocking humor at work!?! How dare they!?!

What really made that suck was my birthday was the 6th and I was home, bored out of my mind, wanting to watch me some netflix before work. Then I wanted to play some MMO's, and no luck there. Plus no roommates in the house for a week either. So the house was silent. Kinda creepy.

But I am back, and soon all should be good. Going to try and find all of what I wrote, and put it together. I have it on my laptop and on two computers. So hopefully soon, we'll have some Through the years and some Hope's Ranch.

Comcast with no contract?

Comcast with no contract? Who did you blackmail? They generally insist on a 2 year contract, no ifs, ands or buts.

No joke who did you blackmail?! I worked for Comcast for five years and I never heard of that kind of deal. What did you do hold the V.P. kid hostage?

WiFi access

If your only connection is wifi then you should take care. The speeds you may be getting now may not be the speeds you get all the time.

Unlike a wire, wifi signals go through the air and the spectrum will be shared with other users. This means that whenever someone else are using heavily there is less for you and others. This means things like Netflix.

Location of your kit in your property may make a difference, too. Metal siding, concrete with reinforcing, pipes and other metalwork can affect signal strength. This may not matter when the signal is strong with few users but might matter when there is heavy use. A stand of trees outside can make a difference, too, particularly if they are wet or covered in snow.

but the really strange part about the deal the roommate got was that if we don'tlike this, we can go to the wired box. Again, this is a whole weird thing to me and just seems out of place for Comcast.

I read that covered in snow

I read that covered in snow comment, and had to chuckle. I haven't seen a tree covered in snow down here.... ever.

I've seen snow on the trees, but not enough to call it 'covered'. (Most people down here that aren't carpetbaggers are like "Snow? What's that?" "Frozen water that comes from the sky." "Oh! You mean hail!" )

Frozen water

Of course, I live in a part of the planet that has weather :)

Penny

Hey! We have weather.

Hey! We have weather. There's hot and dry, hot and wet, and cold and wet. That's three full seasons.

(Besides, if you don't like the weather here, wait a few minutes. We're right on the gulf coast)

We don't get the 'winter'

We don't get the 'winter' part of that pair.

Weather

That's not weather, that's climate.

Weather is when the weather guy has no idea what will happen in four days time. At any season.

The guy never knows. Those

The guy never knows. Those folks would lie about breakfast, just to keep in practice.

I, for one...
