I can't tell you how happy I am to see words like that! The last chapters were such a high that I was worried this drama would be too drastic for my readers.
I'm glad it came out well, though some of my other readers did accuse me of being evil for the cliffhanger. Can't say I blame them for that though. ;)

So is that 'never' as in never that night, or never the same, or is that never never? If it is the latter I wold have to conclude something drastic happened to him, since Amber's magic told her he would be back and that he still loved her.

I'm trying to write this story as immersive as possible from Amber's perspective, so it just means what she experienced at the time before the next chapter. But it's also a true feeling; not just her being whimsical (since that's not her nature). Kevin won't just come home on his own. Something else happens, but I won't say what.
