The story seems to be coming together
The story seems to be coming together for me. Amber may not be able to do anything about her addictions, but she is beginning to understand she can control how they affect her. She also seems to be evolving as a person, and perhaps discovering a side of "herself" that she never knew about.

Discovery
Amber has a LOT to discover about herself and the universe at large in this story. While she doesn't have much control over her life right now, but she certainly is learning to control how to deal with it. That she can find happiness between the moments of hardship. She's starting to learn that she'll need some help, too.
