I'd like if any of those here that would be willing to help me with a count. I'm curious as to the audiences here.

So...

If you're FTM, or any type of person of color, or non-white ethnic please leave a comment if you like or just a kudo.

I'm not looking to say anything about race but I'm actually wondering at the demographics here. I'm not meaning anything by this but sometimes we seem a little mono-tone.

If you're not of the above please refrain from commenting or hitting a kudos not meant as an offense once again but this is just to keep the count clear.

FTM

Are you going to post the results?

The results should be as comments and Kudos.

So everyone should be able to see them I'm just trying to get a look at just how diverse a community we are outside of our personalities and other wonderful bits.

Not part

I'm not taking the survey but I don't see the "Kudo's" button you were referring to as this is a blog and not a story.

Dyslexic - MTF

Sorry about that. It looked right to my eyes when I first wrote it :>(

But you knew that already, Hon. And I am cursed to be a WASP. I know that you didn't specifically ask for that, but consider me the baseline for your data. My family is of the old Scotch-Irish that settled in the original thirteen colonies back in the late 1600's and early 1700's. We fought on the winning side in the American Revolution, and have been in every war since then. Honor above all else.

I say cursed due to the fact that I was born into a very old southern family and raised in the old cavalier tradition. Not that it was all bad - it just wasn't conducive to being me. There is just no way my family could deal with my telling them that I was really a girl as I grew up. But, I did have the advantage of a good education, and I am very proud of the fact that I was steeped in the belief in honor, faith, and service above all else.

Yes, my interpretation is a little different than my father and his family wanted - but it is still there, and it still guides my life every day.

I just hope that I have done a better job teaching it to my sons......

My skin is sort of pinkish/creamish (and wrinkly, damn it) does that count. It is DEFINITELY - NOT - white, that would be WAY too vampirish/ghostish.(maybe even too albino-ish)

I'm a weird mix of Tichganian and Milwaukean.

My paternal grandfather was a vile evil person. A multi term politician and for years delighted in squeezing/jerking the tits of nursing mothers.

Um I mean grandpa was on the school board and later town board chairman and was dairy farmer.

My mom's family. My grand mother was a biker babe and grandpa road a Harley .. up until about 1927.

The were later Christian Scientists and you know what hell raisers they are.

My first language is not American English but an inner suburban dialect of Milwaukeese.

As to ethnicity I am a northern European mutt.

As to sanity..

Don't ask!

I can see your trying to get a feel for who all is transgender in the readers of the wonder how many people don't read the blogs and just come looking for the new stories and updates on their favorites. Some are not sure what they are I was in that crowd and then I can say that I finally realized I was denying who I am trying to please everyone else. Almost two years ago I started hrt and almost a year before that I can say I realized that something in my past forced me to deny everything that I have since embraced in order to be happier than I was for so long.

While I am not FTM, I am also

While I am not FTM, I am also not MTF. I am MTN, male to neuter(neither). Which I believe puts me in a very small minority.

As for nationality I am 1/2 Polish (rumor is djadja (grandpa and no I have no idea how to translate the sound) either got on the wrong boat or thought the boat was going to South America) and mostly other European with a smidgeon of Amerindian. That is either 16ths or 32nds I am not sure which.

what the web says v who we are

The implication of our BC stories is that the majority are by educated people with a good grasp of English. Again prejudice - this implies that the authors are literate and willing to publish. The majority of stories involve primarily white people (as does Fictionmania before it began to have more stories I found unattractive).

The web shows an enormous quantity of Asian MtF and (probably prejudice showing here) I suspect the majority of them don't read or write stories about their lives and feelings.

I suspect that your survey will be biased towards readers and writers in the BC community and may not be representative of the wider American-English MtF community nor of the worldwide MtF community.

Some more survey type questions could include - how many MtF or FtM and CD / TV people do you know in your local community; What is the age-range;

Personally, I would like more stories about 'people like us' going into shops or restaurants and being dealt with kindly or unkindly; special situations such as going into a bridal shop for help and so on.

You're likely right AlysP

But I was more looking for a demographic segment for here since this is where I write. I've had the feeling though that the current demographics are caucasian and MTF for the most part.

I will try to get some of those sort of scenes into my stories.

Simple explanations work best of course

English speaking Asian MTF would frequent this site (moi) probably are cultural blends so have no problem with the White centric nature here. MTF Asians for the most part can pass pretty well especially if we live in a Western country where even slightly bigger Asian women do not raise an eyebrow really as it is chalked up to better nutrition and we don't stand out compared to the typically much larger Caucasian female. Voice and family demands are a common concern of course.

In short the struggles of passing is quite a bit less in a Western country and that is what occupies a lot of stories about crossdressing and such and to a slightly lesser extent for TS. A lot of times it is about fantasy worlds so it does not really matter about the protagonist anyway. Asians have Anime and cosplay as outlets more I guess it seems to me.

Caucasian culture and religion, especially US American culture, has pretty much permeated the globe and is widely known so there is enough understanding to follow the stories here I think so *shrug*. There is a lot of commonality of needs that the Caucasian culture aspects can be proxies a lot of the time, treated like a culture change story in a sense.

There has been some attempts here to bring some Asian cultured based stories (like that 300 rains author) and you too of course. But since you can only experience second hand at best *shrug*. I live both cultures but even I struggle to nail down the defining je nais se quoi (sp?) Asian part of my nature.
