Right now we thought we would have our new servers installed and operating, ready to move BC over to them by, perhaps, Friday. Ain't going to happen.
Wednesday night we had four servers, two switches and yards of cabling riding around in the trunk of Piper's car somewhere near the border of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Twilight Zone.
And we're out $1100 ($750 of which we should be getting back shortly).
And the increase in expenses we had planned as about $500 a month is more likely to be $600 to $1000 a month, for a bit at least.
The short explanation is that the people in Scranton sold COLO space they did not have and we made a 325 mile round trip detour to try to take advantage of the deal they offered us. When Piper got there, no one would talk to her for two days then suddenly she was told there was no room in the inn and she had to head back to NJ.
We need a new home for the servers. Going with another NY/NJ/PA host would cost about double the $500/month deal we thought we had for half the space. Going with a North Carolina or Las Vegas host would remove the advantage we thought we would have for having a provider nearby. Thursday, we were all too sick at heart to want to make a decision so we are took the day to lick our wounds. First order of business tomorrow is to start the process of getting our money back.

More info has come in. We're not sure of the details but apparently the entire data center and all existing customer equipment is being FORCIBLY relocated to North Carolina. I use the word forcibly because it fits. The plan seems to be to drag all the equipment out of the datacenter, load it on flatbed trucks (in March, in Scranton!) and haul it about ten hours to Charlotte, NC where it will be reinstalled in another datacenter. It sounds like something dreamed up by the esteemed engineering company of Howard, Fine and Howard.
We may have dodged a bullet here folks by not getting moved into the center last week. Hopefully we get our money back, what part of it did not go for gas, food and lodging. But it may be weeks.

If not cushioned right the drives on those servers may very well turned into hard drive hash.
Not a content issue
This was not a content issue, Their TOS/AUP specifically allows for adult sites. It was however more involved than what they told us up front.
My guess was
that somebody wanting to do heavy duty bitcoin mining or some other more or less speculative (but potentially highly profitable) venture just paid them off to get priority on the colo space. It doesn't sound like that's what happened, though.
Good luck getting your money back, hope you don't have to involve too many lawyers in the process.

I'd be sending them a bill - they accepted your money in good faith, so they are responsible for failing to live up to their obligations, and the costs associated with it.

is reading our site and its plans and is going out of "their" way to make things hard on us. For now, I would suggest we keep our plans secret and do them without advertising what we are doing so they cannot get a 'heads up' and repeat this.

We've gotten quotes and narrowed it down, hope to make a decision soon.
Oh, and we just got a $749 refund from the other guys, so that is a huge relief. We're only out the $300+ we spent on the trip, and the time we wasted.

Just as an aside/update. As of the end of June, 2014, Burst.net notified vps customers that they were going to be cancelled no later than July 25th.
Hostwinds took over the VPS's, at least temporarily, but the people in LA data centers went to another provider (sharktech.net) at least long enough to get their data back.
At this point, 'burst.net' goes to Hostwinds web site.
Not sure about digiplus, I haven't researched them.
(There's a lot more mess, I'm not going to repeat it)
