FYI, KimEM is in the hospital again. She was admitted during a device checkup as she was and is showing signs of CHF which is a complication of her Hear attack years back.
With luck she will be home in a couple days feeling a lot better, and not carrying around so much water.

I wish her well
With the right drugs or in severe cases a left side assist pump the heart can go on for years or even heal to some extent.
Congestive Heart Failure is very serious and it, combined with a stroke took out my grandfather on my dad's side but he was almost 96.
Good luck to Kim.

CHF and stuff...
Kim's heart attack several years back was pretty severe. She had a 100% blockage of the left anterior descending artery. As a result, the easiest way to describe the damage is to say that "Only half her heart beats" It's not quite right, but pretty close.
She has 2 devices implanted in her chest, a "Pacemaker/Defibulator" made by Guidant systems and another experimental device called a "Optimizer". We were at the hospital for a checkup of the Optimizer when she started to show signs of not doing well at all.
I have to say, that the doctors she's had @ Deborah Heart and Lung center (where she is now, and whom installed both devices) are of a class beyond all else. All her doctors and nurses go out of their way not just to make the one issue better, but to hopefully find a way to improve her quality of life. Nurses she hasn't seen in months/years stopped by to wish her well when they saw her name on the admit list. All I can say is that this facility is top notch!
-HuGgLeS- 2 All, and Thanks for your wishes John.

I don't like hospitals
Hospitals can be very scary. I hope she's got someone with her to make it less so. If not, maybe she can feel all the warm thoughts sent her way.

Congestive Heart Failure is always serious, but they can do more for it than they used to be able to do.

Valve job
A valve job did wonders for my motorcycle. I hope Kim has great results too!

My dad had one
He's doing great at almost 81 and he had it about five years ago. Just drove to AZ from WI and back plus sidetrips all on his own recently.
Good luck, Kim.
