Well, It's been a while since I posted an update... I've done some updates on a person 2 person basis, or to small groups in the GabyZone chat-room, but it's time to get everyon caught up...

Kim left Deborah Heart and lung center, 2 or 3 weeks ago now.... I'm not sure exact dates because my schedule is all turned around...

N-E-Ways, she was transferred from Deborah to an "Acute Physical Therapy/Rehab Center" in vineland (read as, nursing home)... She was there for 2-3 days, and then transferred to the South Jersey Regional Medical Center (where she has been since).

They transferred her from the rehab center, to SJRMC, because she was still suffering from CHF and retaining too much water... As of right now, her feet/leggs are still really really swollen, but I belive they have taken her off of the lasics ...

We had been working on getting her into a rehab hospital in Philladelphia, which while it is further away, would be a carring environment full of competent professionals. Many of whom we know and trust from when Bill was a patient there for almost a year....

Well, yesterday, and then again today we got some news...

The "mass" on Kim's kidney, which we figured had just been "forgotten" apparently hadn't been... They've apparently been running all kinds of tests and checking older records...

Acording to the current doctor, Kim definitely has a Tumor on her kidney. They don't know if it's Cancerous or not, and can't really find out...

They want to do a CT scan, but can't... Because the high contrast die, would put Kim back in renal failure..

Also, the doctors say that she probably wouldn't survive conventional surgery for the same reasons...

So, the current option, is to do it with lasers and that will need to be done at Jefferson Health Systems in Philadelphia... So now we are trying to get her transferred there... The doctors are fully supporting this move, and are currently "working to get her strong enough for transport"...

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my life will be returning to normal anytime soon..

As for Kim herself... She's tired a lot, and on OX, but her blood pressure and oxygen intake are fine, and in fact "good". She's back to herself mentally, and quick with a comeback when needed. That's what relived me the most... Up until just before she moved out of the rehab center, it was looking almost as if there were permanent brain damage... but I guess we should have trusted the doctors more that kept telling us that that would go away as her kidneys purged more of the general anesthesia out of her system...

N-E-Ways, this post is full of typos, mis-spellings, and other glaring errors, but I'm going to leave it as is...

I will post more when I know more....

Oh yeah, the doctor did say that it was definitely a "SMALL" tumor, not big at all and should be fairly removable.

I'm so glad!

The news, while not completely good, is sounding better; and that's a good thing to hear. Out love and prayers for the both of you.

Thanks for the continuing news...

Luckily I've been getting periodic ones in the GabyZone chat room (by pestering you until you talked).

Thanks for sharing this Piper!

Two steps forward, one step back

I hope for the best and wonder if the kidney tumor is contributing to the fluid retention. Thank goodness her mind is sound and she has good friends like you, Piper.

Add my prayers to the rest, please?

Piper, you know what Kim means to me, and you and Bill, because of your close relationship with her. Please let her know that lots of us are praying and rooting for her. All my best hopes and wishes go to all three of you.

Love and huggles from,
Cathy
