As some may have guessed, my career as a writer is really just starting but it's moving in the right direction. I am selling pretty steadily on Amazon and have another major novel in the works. I have more story ideas than I can shake a stick at, so I should be kept busy for quite a while. Needless to say, I still plan on posting stories to the site, I just don't have anything completed (but 150k words of a new story that should be finished in 2 weeks then editing).
I am also beginning to get noticed. I have a request to speak in Ohio, which I currently can't take. But, one of the people who noticed me has an online television show and wants to interview me about my writing. I am humbled, but I am also reluctant. I have a habit of coming off as an ass, even though I don't mean to. I don't want to get in front of a camera and insult an entire community or fellow writers, which I might very well do when I try to explain why my stuff is different from the forced fem and sissyfication stories. I also would have to have a make over, because I refuse to look like shit on film and that might be cost prohibitive. I don't know and just want some feedback. Is it worth someone like me going on t.v. would other TG authors feel comfortable with me representing the community?

Were you elected Katie.
Hi Katie.
How would you choose to represent the TG community. Have you got policies or ideas concerning all the issues that affect the TG community world wide.
I applaud your concerns and your courage in facing an audience of TG authors but please remember your literary roots in some part originated from this online site and that means you might be expected by the TG community to present a global perspective not just a US one.
Can't offer any advice I'm afraid. Seems some sort of referendum or canvass might be in order.

I think a lot depends on why
I think a lot depends on why this person wants to interview you. Do they think of you as a writer who happens to be transitioning or a trans woman who happens to be a writer?
If you do decide to go ahead with this, make sure you get a list of the questions you're likely to be asked in advance of the interview.
Katie, If you start to get
Katie,
If you start to get noticed more and more you need to find yourself a publicist. They'll help from coming off like an ass. But some of the best writer come off as asses anyway so... Glad you are getting noticed though. Gery
