Well I must say I am a trifle confused.

In the week since I posted the first part of my Julina series, it has attracted 1600 readers, and got 8 comments, 6 of which are nothing to do with the story itself. Is this usual?

I had been sorta expecting some helpful critiques, I guess.

So I am left wondering if this is just vanilla to most of the readers, in which case I guess I am not doing a very good job.

I shall plug on.

Unless any of you have a character they would like to know more about, I shall continue delving into the remotest corners of the community.

Cheers

That's about par for the

That's about par for the course, I'd say.

What tends to happen is that readers who want to offer detailed criticism will do so via the Private Message system. You might find more pertinent comments appearing as the series gains momentum.

Ban nothing. Question everything.

Reads not readers

That would be 1600 reads, including people who returned multiple times to look at fresh comments.

Don't worry about the numbers. The system is wacky and never responds the way you think it ought to.

You'll probably find that as you get into the swing of things new readers will pick it up and go back and read the earlier chapters. Then you have readers here who will wait until the whole thing is finished. (I guess they'll never start on Bike with that attitude.)

As for me, I find your stories so far to be entertaining. I'm learning things about Blackstone I never expected!

Keep 'em coming,

Welcome to the pretty shiny factor.

New stories are popular ones and will gain good reads and comments. I've found in every other case in almost all of us writing here we all drop off after that. I've had stories I thought were loved get comment cast aside. In the end we're at the tender mercies of our most loyal readers and the flavor of the day.

Julina

I rarely comment on stories no matter if I enjoy them or not. I am not a writer so all I can say to all of the authors is " Excellent Job!"
Your "Julina of Blackstone" stories have been fun reading, giving a nice background to life in remote Blackstone.
Keep on writing I say and don't let the lack of comments deter your writing.

dont worry about it

you should read some of the comments left on some of my stories. Some are a little TOO involved.

Not at all

Some of us get none while plenty of people are commenting. We then stop posting here.
