For the last several days, SKYPE has been off. I am in Portland, Oregon, SE side. Does anyone else have that issue?

Skype

I live in Boston MA and am having no problem with skype. I have noticed that there have been several updates recently. Have you tried reinstalling/upgrading? Could be a possible problem with just the install.

Seems to be working for me.

Seems to be working for me. Though I am in the UK.

There was an update, but I do not know when it came out.
I do not use very often as I only have 2 Contacts. :P

It seems to be working for me but,

then again, I have a much older version of skype. I much prefer the older version to the new ones, since the new versions ara memory hogs and don't work as well.

Skype doesn't work that way

Anything that blocks Skype has to be pretty local because it is VERY distributed and if you can get on the internet at all, you should be able to use Skype. So something is wrong on your machine OR, your ISP is blocking Skype somehow. Is your ISP a phone company? :)

I think the problem is likely with the installation of Skype on your machine.

MS changed some things but...

Skype still is distributed system.
I remember time when admins at my work were trying to restrict Skype use and blocked it. But some people had valid business reason to use Skype and were granted access. It was very funny to see that as soon as at least one of those logged into Skype everybody else's status in the office changed to "online" :-)

Dedicated Linux over P2P

Yes, Skype moved from a distributed P2P superNode system to several thousand linux boxes doing the same work, but which are more resistant to attacks that try and disrupt the network.
