I was wondering if a few people would help me figure out something that I am racking my brain over. I am wondering what exactly am I doing as an author. I know I don't post stories quite as often as others, but I do have quite an extensive library going on here and am in the middle of yet another major novel. I know a lot of people don't like definitions placed on them, but I am a different bird and sometimes like to know where I stand in the scheme of things. Here is what I got please add or subtract as you see fit.

I write stories that are about transsexual and transgendered characters who face various issues common to people who identify themselves outside traditional gender norms. The is a common theme of acceptance through my works, whether it be of self or from society around them. In my works I seek to educate those who are curious about transsexualism, perhaps because they've seen it on television or have been touched by it in life because a loved one or friend has identified themselves as transgender. I try to escape the common troupes of transgender fiction and do my best to avoid the common trappings of the genre, namely not writing about the external displays of being transgender (namely dressing up and acting like the opposite gender) and concentrate on the psychological aspects of a person suffering Gender Identity Disorder.

My works are suitable for young adults and would appeal to parents, family, and friends who are trying to understand why a person is transsexual and what exactly does it mean. My stories are trenched deeply in reality and I tend to avoid the more contrived stories (such as dressing up as the opposite gender to escape situations). My stories are about self discovery, whether it be for the transsexual character (Like in Just Friends or A Different Kind of Life) or a person who has close contact with a transsexual character (Like in God Bless the Child and Wrestling Against Myself). There are some strong underlying Christian principles at play and a general belief that a relationship with God is important that comes across in the writing.

With all the coverage in the news about Transgender people, I seek to show people what it is really like to be trans once the cameras fade and the makeup wears off. I seek to educate people on the reality that a transsexual must face in daily life through hard hitting, thought provoking dramas. Though my books are entertaining and will send people on an emotional rollercoaster, in the end, the reader will understand a little bit better what it means to be transgender and help them start answering some tough questions that they might have about the issue.
