Luis has a girlfriend, a German girl called Nadia. She is allowed to leave the island whenever she wants to, often taking the plane to Florida to visit friends. Strangely, she holds a legal Guatemalan passport, as no passport was ever issued to her by the German authorities.
However, Nadia likes the fast life, and one day it catches up with her. She dies at the wheel of a sports car in Florida, and guess what?
Nadia isn't a girl at all.
Meet Michelle, a girl with a special quality. Apart from being a professional stage performer, she is also illegally in the USA. the authorities recognise her for what she is and offer her a proposition that she can't refuse.
The question is, will the cost be too great for her?

Sounds like there are no surprise changes for the protagonist
... in this one. Michelle is already who she knows who she wants to be and likely already liking guys so that leaves the whole spy drama thing. Wonder how that will go, hmmm.

Well, I can't take my pension with me when I go - not that I've any immediate plans.
I've just started re-reading 'Modern Masquerade' on Kindle for what must be the third time at least.

Next book?
I deliberately left it so it would be possible. The trans-aspect has sort of been put to bed, so the next book would be a thriller involving Michelle (a girl) and Ryan (a man) so perhaps it's best to leave it where it is, unless of course my muse comes up with a usable scenario.
What do you think?

Since you've created such interesting characters, why abandon them just because one phase of their lives is over? Like a lot of your works, what makes this one interesting isn't so much that she's trans, it's her derring-do and her skills at deception.
I think there's plenty more bad guys out there for her to trap.
If you must have a trans theme as the primary element, then perhaps the next villain is incredibly elusive because nobody is aware that he cross-dresses, and our hero is able to catch on to his shenanigans because of her unique insight.
