I've been trying to reply to a PM well several from the same person but I get the red line saying that my e-mail didn't go through but it shows in the thread that I posted it. Is this just because the person I'm sending it to is offline or is it something here?

Don't worry.
It just means that the Email notification failed. The PM itself still gets through. To those who choose not to have Email notification for their PMs, it is inconsequential.
You can keep sending me messages. ;)

This answers I question I was having too. Good to know that I don't have to save drafts of messages I'm sending.
That would get very cluttered, very quickly.
(and in 2-6 months time I'd be clearing out folders on my computer and go "huh? what was that about...?"

To clairify
When you send a PM, it sends the PM through the site's system. Then depending on their settings will try to send an e-mail notice about the PM externally to the recipient to tell them to check their messages. Apparently the e-mail plug-in is broken.
