I don't know about

I don't know about Independence Day. Many families didn't fare so well after that war. Quite a few loyal British subjects were forced to flee the burgeoning United States of America. Some of our future Canadian ancestors had to fend off two U.S. invasions over the subsequent half century.

As for a day to remember, we have one: Remembrance Day. It takes place on the 11th of November. Many people throughout the Commonwealth observe it. People wear poppies, donate to veteran charities (mostly through the Legion), and remember those who died in the service of their country.

How come ...

How come, the ancient Britons (Welsh) haven't got an 'Independence day'? After all, weren't the Romans kicked out some time in the 5th century a.d.? (Snigger, snigger, snigger.)
