He was the star of 10 Things I Hate About You, A Knight's Tale, and more pertinent to the GLBT community, Brokeback Mountain

The World At Your Feet

So many here have real problems and yet this boy, with the world at his feet, dies, whether by his own hand or a drug overdose or whatever. Think! you out there. You are still here and you are much stronger than him.I don't want to put him down but build you up.

not suicide

He was found naked, facedown, with sleeping pills scattered around his head. I know of NO sleeping pills that act THAT fast, no matter how many you take. The autopsy is this morning.

Who?

I've heard the name Heath Ledger, but misheard it as Keith Ledger, what kind of name is Heath? Anyway, I know he was an actor, but not what he looked like or what movies he was in. The photos on the news were my fist exposure to this guy. I guess I don't go to enough movies!

Glad I'm not the only one.

To be honest I'd never heard of him until the news of his death. I knew about the film 'Brokeback Mountain' but I haven't seen it as we rarely go to the cinema but none of the actors were familiar to me. I think I live in a parallel universe sometimes. Things that 'everybody' knows, I don't (like pop music or football players etc) but I potter on in my little world riding my bike, playing with toy aeroplanes reading. If I pick up a copy of a red top tabloid (eg the Sun) it's full of red hot news about people I've never heard of.

It must be old age and not going to work that does it :)

Heath Ledger

was on his way to becoming one of the "Legendary" caliber of actors, who just being in a film meant it became a must-see. I'd place him on par as a young version of Dustin Hoffman, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino...
