The way the comment system operates, it is possible for someone who read the comment to reply to it. Unless the author of the comment happens to go back to the story to check out how other readers commented on the story they will never learn that someone replied to the comment.
I wonder if a system can be devised by our wonderful, insightful, knowledgeable (those descriptive adjectives are well meant)leaders, Erin, etc. to notify the author of a comment if someone replied to their comment. I am aware that such systems exist. I have no idea how they operate and how difficult it is to set up. I know our system notifies you if someone leaves you a PM. Perhaps the same technology can help in the reply to comment situation.

The "Track" page.
I have it permanently tabbed open. I refresh it every few hours. This way I get notified if ANYBODY comments on the same story/blog as meow, whether or not they're quoting me.
I wholeheartedly encourage every member of this site to at least check their track page, it's a shame when a person doesn't come back to check for feed back on what they've done or said.
Of course I would certainly welcome an automatic notification system. Sounds purr-fect! ^_^

Watch This Space
I've turned on the Watcher module for this ability. If it turns out to have a significant impact on site performance I may have to turn it off or try something else. It's configurable for logged in users but also enables anonymous users to enter their email if they want to be notified of comments on a node.
We'll leave this working for at least today and tomorrow and see what happens.

The Track page was (and still is) very useful, but I don't think I'll be able to render it totally obsolete. To do that I would have to go through every single page of my comment history and add every single relevant post to the new list one by one...
