I've just finished reading Dead Reckoning by Mercedes Lackey. It is a very good book, and the main character is a FtM TV. The book is about zombies in the Wild West (1867). For those familiar with the Deadlands RPG setting, it is much like that without the Ghostrock(?) and physical changes, but with the Magic/Weird Science. For others think Wild Wild West with Magic, that isn't entirely accurate but a decent idea for the setting.

I highly recommend this story along with most of Mercedes Lackey's novels.

Deadlands

Got to love Deadlands...ill check it out.

Cartman: A fine day of plundering we had boys. What about yourselves? Here you are lads, plenty of booty to go around. A round of grog for me boys. A round of grog for everyone!

Misty's not...

Misty's not hesitated to address LGBT issues in her novels. The hero of her second trilogy in her Valdemar Series was gay... And there were gays in her first trilogy (Arrows...)

I've yet to run into one of her stories that wasn't worth reading.

chrome circle

While the valdimar series is ok. I prefer the chrome circle series or the bard one(they actually hook together at one point).

"Did you know that private roads have no speed limit?" A classic line.

Stan, she wrote quite a few Sci Fi Fantasy like a short series on Urban Elves in a modern world, and several featuring Bards and Mages. All are very good. Not a whole lot of TG stuff, but I seem to remember at least two other stories where at least attractions were more or less forced changed. My memory could be faulty.

Lackey

Stan she does have one short story, but I can't remember the name that is TG. In one of her three Oath Bound series books, there is a bandit who tries to his best to assault Tarma and Kethry. He fails, but the White Winds mage casts a permanent illusion of a woman on him as punishment. Later he tries for revenge by running to this demon...

There is also some controversy regarding Mercedes and the TG community. She has said that although she won't say never, the odds are very slim she'll do a story with a TG main character. I take this as M to F given her latest book. After all, girls pretending to be boys are thought to be clever while ... Okay I'll shut up now.

Well, there is...

Well, there IS the sword that was a woman... :-) Not exactly transgender, but.

A better way to put it is

A better way to put it is that some of her other fiction has TG elements. The story Grover mentioned is called Turnabout. She has in her Valdemar world a group of warriors that are genderless. She has used many gay characters, including main characters, a few transvestites, and within her Valdemar anthologies, a couple of characters that could be considered furries (although she didn't write the stories). I'm sure that somewhere on the net is a list of her alternatively sexed characters, but I've never bothered to look or make my own list.

I'm a long time fan and have many of her books. The first Valadmar book, "Arrows of the Queen." is my favorite. Her Chrome Circle stuff was fun, although her retelling of classic fairy tales with her Elemental series doesn't excite me as much.

Reading some of the teaser chapters at Amazon Dead Reckoning does appear interesting.
