I am afraid….I weep.
Be still my darling child. Come to the quiet
But I am afraid

Come to the music, Her flute calls
I will listen…….I tremble.
Come to the music Her flute trills.
I am afraid…..and my body sways.
Come to the Dance, my Beloved.
I am afraid…….. And I rise to the Dance.
She enfolds me, the flute enfolds us,
And we dance, dance,
Dance into the quiet.
And I am not afraid.

I have read the other comments,
and I agree this piece is very touching, very moving and so lyrical. However, I feel there is a deeper meaning here. I have thought many times about dancing in to the quiet, but I write instead.

Yes
You picked up on the subtext. The quiet is my feminine soul and I was close to the point that had I not been able to transition passably the other quiet was coming closer. I am grateful to whomever that despite my worse fears, the transition was seamless from the start.
My son's mother, after spending a week with me in Ft.Lauderdale, Fl said "...nothing has changed, you think speak and move as you always have, even your little gestures are the same. But you look so different and it all fits so much better". All of that fear for nothing.
Oh well.

Joani, I heard your poem sing to me.
It knows my fears too but encourages me to dance.
I watched a butterfly today, thought delicate and beautiful
It fluttered here and there as though to music with a different beat
Sometimes it floated on the wind, or drifted from flower to flower.
Is it insignificant if no one notices, is it's beauty any less?
I wonder about the person inside of me,
Is she not beautiful just for being
Or does she not exist because of someone else's wish
I wish others would be open to look and see
but I dance in the quiet just for me.
There is a Spirit, she bids me to be
To dance and twirl to be a little girl

Dance into the Quiet
A poem for us in all seasons. This time of year Jessie feels pretty alone and it is often hard to dance. I thank this community the goodness in our people and poems like this that encourage one to be. I am thankful for its writer, her friendship and many of you. A special thanks to a nephew.
