Has anyone else had an luck trying to get to story site? None of the bookmarks I had, and used to check it twice daily, are working since early yesterday. I don't know if the two different servers she was using are both out, or if she didn't pay the bill, or if she decided to just pull it since there was no evidence of activity in 3 years. She said she was working on it, but......

That's where I got my start.
It is a shame that the site is fading away. She was always very kind to me and tolerant of my inexperience.

It can't be found by ping or nslookup (which indicates the server's offline), however whois indicates the domain still exists and is registered until 2014.
No doubt if Crystal has decided it's not worth maintaining any more, she'll pass the word on and we'll hear about it some time in the not too distant future...

I don't believe she will pass the word.
I don't know... looks like something happened to her IRL and she just stopped any and all relation with her previous online activities.
On the other hand site have been offline several times during past years and returned.
And... there is hope that whatever Crystal was working on re Story site had come to conclusion and site being updated right now... hopes... hopes...
It's just DNS issues
it was as simple as the fact that the primary name server's domain ppf-networks.net was up for renewal and I needed to wait till there was $$$ in my account to renew it. It's been taken care of.
Standard disclaimer that it could take 24/48 hours for DNS to work for you, but usually a reboot of your computer and router will suffice.

can't access www.maddybell.com either and I think I remember Erin writing that they are on same server so it may not be as dire as you think

I'm not sure where the server itself is located, but it also uses ppf-networks for its DNS, so would have been affected by the same issue as Crystal's.
Both sites are now up and running.

What sort of happened
Piper has control of PPF-Networks.net which is primary DNS server for Crystals and MaddyBell. The PPF business is long defunct but Piper still has control of the domains. This expired along with the domain that is secondary server for those two, as well. Piper and I just renewed those two in order to keep Crystals up and running even though we have new domains set up as DNS for everything else. No one has been able to get hold of Crystal to get the DNS repointed so this was our only solution.

Thank you for your dedication to keeping those other sites up and running as well as this fine site. I figured it was something as simple as renewing the domains so thanks again. I think we all hope that someday crystal will resume managing her site and finish writing her great stories..... Taarpa
