I realize that it's only a USA holiday but Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Canada and Mexico had their Thanksgivings earlier but this is the big US family feast day, in some ways, bigger than Christmas which is so much about shopping now that people forget to be happy to have what they've got.

I'm thankful that my mom, as exasperating as she is, is still with me. I'm thankful for a nice, comfortable home in a wonderful place to live. I'm thankful that my health is essentially good despite back pain, recurrent sinusitis and being too fat. I'm thankful for my brother's support and love and for his family, wife, son and dogs.

I'm thankful that I remember Jeanne and her love.

I'm thankful for BigCloset and for all the friends I have met through it and the feeling I get when I read or write a good story. I'm thankful that our little corner of the world can seem safe and supportive to some who need that feeling.

I'm thankful for all of you out there reading this.

It's a big, beautiful, gold, green and blue world we can be thankful for--so, thank you.

May the coming year have plenty more blessings for all of us.

Hugs,
Erin

Wow

Thanks for that Erin, it made me think of what I have and although it's no big feast or celebration here, it never does one any harm to reflect and be grateful for what one has.

I'm thankful but ...

my hands have bits of dough on them from baking for the family get-to-getter at Steve and Barbara's -- half-wheat/potato buns and egggnog bread. So I can't type much.

Then I have to help Barbara -- my sister not Steve's wife -- change a flat tire. Telling them apart is not too hard, the one is a blonde the other looks a lot like Oprah, and no, that's not Steve. And Sis is the blonde, Steve's more salt and pepper these days.

Family is a blessing, mostly, kind of.

P.S. Where did those lugnuts go?

P.P.S. John, I broke a tooth on one of your wheat buns.

Me, Too!

What she said!

I'm thankful for my family, and for whatever time we have left together, for my Sweetie who is the love of my life, for the gifts we have and for the love and material wealth in our lives.

Also, I'm thankful for some people I met recently, who seem willing to work to make things better, not only for themselves, but for complete strangers and for obscure causes. It is so easy to look at some of the horrible things done "in the name of religion," and think that the concept itself must be poisonous. Especially when our brothers and sisters have suffered so horribly at the hands of some who use religion to justify bigotry and hatred. Yet, I was blown away by the response to an appeal made by me, a complete newcomer to one particular congregation. Read about it here, if you want.

Wishing everyone an open mind and a joyous heart, Happy Thanksgiving!
