Hello again all! Been a while since I've posted anything (4 months, ack!). I never intended to be quiet so long, sorry about that. However, I haven't been idle.

I decided that posting willy-nilly whenever I had something done wasn't working for me. I stressed about it too much. So, I did some thinking and decided on a slightly different approach. The most important part of which is a buffer. I do so much better with a buffer; because I don't have to feel too guilty if I don't get any writing done for a week, or even a month. So long as I get plenty done in the long run. And I intend to make sure I do, because I'm much more 'with it' when I do.

I've realized of late that I tend to be a lot less in tune with my surroundings when I haven't been writing. Also sleep worse and generally have trouble concentrating. So writing regularly is important. Plus, I just love to write. Getting constructive/positive feedback is pretty cool, too.

Anyway, I've been working on building up that buffer I mentioned. The reason I'm writing this now is... I'm almost done! Finally!! I'm hoping to be ready to post on New Years Day, sort of a new beginning new year thing. I may even if my buffer isn't quite where I want it, since it'll be extremely close regardless. My goal is to keep my buffer between twenty six and fifty two completed chapters/stories. I'll be posting once a week, so obviously that's six months to a year. I'm at twenty five now.

I know from experience that, in the long run and on average, posting once a week is easy. The hard part are those weeks/months when RL gets in the way or my muse takes a holiday or whatever. So having a big buffer smooths over those rough spots and I should have no trouble building it back up anytime it gets low, since I'll have at least six months to do it! *crosses fingers*

As for the year limit, that's to keep my buffer from getting too bloated. My plan, and I expect this will happen at least once a year (probably more), is to post once a day for a week whenever my buffer gets too big (over a year's worth). So that'll be a treat (I hope) for the readers while simultaneously keeping my buffer from becoming too big to manage.

So, that's the plan. Like I said, my buffer is basically done, just one chapter away. I've tried to work on all my outstanding stories, but some give me more trouble than others. Most of my buffer is VC stuff, but there's Kittyhawk and others in there, too. I've even managed to finish one, though not the first one I started, ironically. And I've started working on a book two for that one, though I won't post any of it until it's done to keep from having too many ongoing stories. I know, too late!

If for some reason I don't post anything on New Years, don't worry. I've got this huge buffer so there will be lots coming. I think this approach, with the buffer already built like this, will allow me to keep posting regularly indefinitely. Or, at least, I hope it will. I hate all the big gaps in my posting thus far and want to be more reliable. I can't get back to the daily I did with VC when it first started, but I can at least stop having multi-month gaps, right?!

So, that's where I'm at. Sorry for the long absence, posting wise. And I'm sorry if anybody thought my stories were going to go unfinished as some do. I can pretty much guarantee that won't happen. I may take a while, but I'll get there.

And if you actually read through this entire post, congratulations, have a cookie! ;)

...Because a cookie simply won't be effective after all that. :P

Well, it's great to have you back. ^_^ *HuggleSnugglePurr* <3
Even better to see you regularly, if that's what you meant. = )
Oh, and mega kudos if you can tell me from where I got that quote that I used in my comment title. :D

Wasn't it something that

Wasn't it something that random dwarves said in taverns?

I thought Baldur's Gate stole it...

From our favorite dwarves of all time: LOTR. Can't remember his name right now, but the dwarven member of the Fellowship said that at one time, IIRC.

I don't know if the quote is originally from the Baldur's Gate game or not. I think it's Gimli, son of Gloin, that you're thinking of.

Indeed Saless, it is a phrase heard from certain NPC dwarves. I recall one in particular who lives in a southwest region of Baldur's Gate itself, and is interested in the ankheg shell trade.
Perhaps more significantly, the phrase is one of Arkanis' "selection sounds". He's a fighter dwarf who lives in Candlekeep, and he's one of the temporary party members who join you for the training session organised by the gatewarden before you leave with Gorion. When you return towards the end of the game, you meet him again in the dungeons under the keep. He battles by your side, but not as a party member.

There's a nice slice of GeekMegaTomboyness for you. :D
